Roleplaying can be a real challenge. Let’s make it easier on ourselves and gather some handy tips and links! J’sarr likes it when things are easy. Once we get a nice collection of tips and links, this sticky will be formatted so you’ll have a kick-ass ESO roleplaying resource.

I’ll start off with some links:

The Elder Scrolls Wiki - Khajiit
Plenty of Khajiiti flavoured information here.

Cats of the Elder Scrolls Online
An interesting article on Khajiit. Well worth a read.

A list of ESO Emotes
/bucketsplash

That's two on Khajiit, but obviously we've got more races than just those fleabags! So let's get started..

I feel like every forum for every game with roleplay needs these tips:

1. Embrace consequence from roleplay
2. Hate the character, not the player

The first one simply makes roleplay much more interesting. While it may be hard for people to jump in at first, it's more realistic and immersive if there has been a history of adventures within a group of people which newcomers must learn first. If your character "dies", you can make a new one for the group and continue leveling your dead character, out of character.
The second is an idea which diversifies the cast of a group from lawful neutrals and goods. If someone seems to show outward disdain towards your character, don't take it personally! This relates back to consequences in that you may do something to anger another character, accidentally or purposefully, and you are in charge of that action. Your military officer might be a belligerent tyrant, but behind the screen they are a kind person whom would never want to harm anyone.

Allow your lawful character to be angry at the rash actions of a chaotic good character with the best intentions. Gather secrets for the enemy and know that if you are caught, you're going to the gallows. That's what the Elder Scrolls is about! Making your own decisions, for better or for worse, mean something.

Wonderfully stated, Mereneth. I feel like Elder Scrolls is a really good setting for this sort of thing. You can steal and murder, but if you are caught, there will be consequences and that's just part of the fun! Having characters turn against you or an old friend forced to be your executioner lead to beautiful roleplays. Sometimes you just need to find where to stand in the greater story and let it carry you.
