Ok, just came up with the idea as I logged off tonight. Long story short. Trivia Event hosted by myself. Questions will range from Quest Related knowledge based to location questions. The person who correctly WHISPERS me the answer first gets 100g. There will be 20 Questions in all, and the person who answer the most questions correctly altogether (This way to give those slow typers like myself a chance to win something), will win 1000g. Ties will be each awarded 1000g each. I won't be posting the questions and answers here, as to give a chance for Officers to participate if they so wish.

As yet I haven't chosen a time.

Sounds fun. I don't really do much game trivia myself, but I know many people find that fun (and cash prizes always boost interest of course)

I'm doing up the questions right now. Slow day at work >_> seems fitting considering the situation.

Would be interesting, although this one would fail at answering most of these questions as this one usually only half listens when somebody asks him to do something.

Nice. I like it.

Would you run the event in guild chat or in local? Both have advantages and disadvantages.

I think this one should be run in guild chat but the answers should not be required to be IM's.

Guild Chat sounds good, but the reason for the IM is so people who are slow typers to get a chance to win the prizes, through the "One who answered the most correct rather then fastest." But if you think it should be thru guild chat with IM I'll accept that.

IM's sound like they'd work well for that situation. But you would have to be verrrrry clear in guild chat that you don't want people to blurt our the answer in guild chat, because that would ruin things.

This is nice - simple, fun, and inviting! I could picture a number of us holding this sort of thing, each with our own sort of catagory, like Qa'Han's quest locations, or Tamriel History, Crafting trivia, Name-That-Daedra-Lord, ect.

J'sarr brought up a good point about people blurting out the answers in guild chat, and considering the people often times log in well after an event has started asking "Has the ______ started? Am I late?" (P.S: I understand circumstances may make someone late, but I really hate it when people constantly ask that. If you have to ask "Am I late?" They are more then likely your late.) So I came up with an alternative.
I am going to make a Large Group for the event (Max people 35, I reserve four spots reserved for Managers who wish to take part) in which I will convey the questions. Only people in the group will be illegible for any prizes, plus we won't have people asking "Why can't I see you." Answers will be messaged to me through IM for the reasons above, and I will only allow people who is late getting in after every 5 questions, as to reduce the times I will have to say "Everyone remember to send the answer through IM only."

Also, I'm going to increase the prize to 200 per correct first answer, and 2000 for the most correct answers over all. I've decided since I intend to contribute items to the auction every week, half of my earnings will go toward guild events I host/organize (With exceptions to stuff I craft myself). Last auction I earned 8000, 4000 for me, and 4000 for the guild.

Any concerns or suggestion?

I just want to post 2 questions and see if you guys think they are to difficult.

  1. What did Razum-Dar provide you with to assist in your investigations at Skywatch?
  2. How many barns were there at the "Speckled Shell Plantation"?

I'll admit most of these questions will relate to the Dominion side, so the event will be "Know Thy Allies".

Hmmmmm sounds good, only that, we have what, 250+ members now? I mean, I'm not sure how many people would likely be involved, or what would be feasibly manageable, but just at surface glance, 35 seems like such a small amount of people. Just a thought.

I see you running in to a problem only having 35 in a group. I still think guild chat is the best way to take answers. Questions you ask and announcements of who got the question correct should be in blue or some other color, though.

I wouldn't worry about slow typing. It is way more exciting if everyone sees the wrong and right answer so we all know who got it right first.

I know it is annoying when people are late but you will either have to get used to it or start your event earlier!

You are also going to need someone to commit to keeping track of who gets questions right so you don't have to stop for a few minutes after every question.

I just wanted to add that those example questions are great! If those are a strong representation of the questions you have for this event, it's a nice mix of "You should know this if you were paying attention" and "Wait what? Huh! lemme think!" It's a nice touch to throw in questions that brush against too difficult, dipping into educated guesses for people to get the thrill of being just downright lucky, so long as they're sprinkled in with questions like the former example.

I too was a fan of holding the event in guild chat. However, the answers must be done through IM for the event to work. Much like a real life trivia night.

I can understand Qa'Hans reluctance to use guild chat. It gets full of confused/late people (who wouldn't be confused if they'd only pay attention). Perhaps, as Ri'sari said, use a custom colour for the questions. In addition we could have a manager or two dedicated to answering the "am I late" or "what's going on" questions. Maybe directly to the question asker through IM to cut down on guild chat traffic.

The group chat idea also works. But I personally like the thought of a guild chat event. Haha but that's just J'sarr's opinion.

Sounds like a good plan and with the amount of lore flying in guild today I bet there will be some seriously interested people. If you need any help setting this up let me know.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll use the Guild Chat and have my text a different color to show questions (As I reconized that was an issue in the Hide and Seek event, decerning clues from other chat. I think I will have them answer in guild chat after all, and ignore my Most answers correct reward and simply give the 2000 to the people who answers the most correctly first.
That being said, I would appreciate another Manager help keeping track of numbers who gets the answer correct first (I'll mail him the answer sheet) and possibly another to answer questions of "whats going on?" That will allow me to type up the next question while they answer. Would anyone like to volunteer?

I'm planning to do it Monday starting at 9:00pm EST
