Hello,

I'm looking for input on putting together a good build for my character. I am still pretty fresh to the idea of building a character around having a specific role. My intent with this character is a tanking dragon knight, played by an orc. This also is my smithing character, so some of my skills go toward that.

Does anyone have any tips for me? or a good site with builds?

What I always recomend to anyone wanting to make a new build is to play with this site - http://esohead.com/calculator/skills - it will let to see what everythin morphs into and will allow you to build a full level 50 build without wasting in game skill points.

Sword and shield is a given for a pure tanking build. You will also want Magma Armor ultimate, green dragon blood, and the ability that adds armor until you can get the one that stuns. I forgot the names of the last two.

The first three skills can be your taunt, enemy damage reduction and a bash.

You are going to want stamina as much as health for a tank. My experience with the DK build above has been really good, but you will need stamina potions. Also, don't try to tank /everything/, because you might find yourself using potions when you didn't need to.

Put all your points into health and enchant into magicka with your armor pieces. Sword and Board is the correct way because there is a 15 second taunt in that tree called puncture, morph it to pierce armor to debuff their spell resist as well as armor class . Also take shield charge, morph it to invasion for a longer stun. Get all the passives from 1 hand and shield, this will make you tankier and turn your bash into what people are complaining about in the forums- OP.

Class abilities will focus mainly on ardent flame with the normal Draconic abilities: Dragon Blood morphed to Green Dragon Blood(you're gonna like the stamina regen which can be used solely for that if you like) also Dark Talons, a must, also has a synergy that allows your group members to damage them. Inhale is an awesome dungeon self heal that heals you for every mob hit with an aoe you cast, Reflective Scales is good for pvp which has a low mana cost and reflects all spells for 4 seconds. These are your defensive abilities which is why i loved Draconic power so much and spec'ed fully and solely into at first. Oh yeah make sure to get all the passives from this line asap. after reaching veteran 2 I realized I spec'ed too much as a tank and didn't have enough dps so I did a respec.

Grab the draconic powers I showed earlier but now ardent flame is your dps class abilities.

Dragon Knight Standard is your ultimate, there is a chains synergy and also pair this with dark talons and it keeps targets in the standards aoe= set it and forget it... haha kinda but it does do a lot of the work for you as you whittle the rest of their hitpoints down. Grab fiery grip but only to level up enough till you can get Searing Strike (no need to mess with the fiery grip-mana-costing spell after words because your gap closer is shield charge which uses stamina instead of mana and it stuns as well as damages the opponent...) now this is where the fun begins as you unlock Searing Strike and delve deeper into Ardent Flame. Get Fiery Breath and Lava Whip. All the passives are necessary to melt face with these abilities.
Spec into heavy armor as this will max your AC and spell resists fast if you use at least a 5 piece heavy armor set up. Stay away from vampire bites as a tank, the fire damage in dungeons only get worse in the veteran ranks.
