Sitting upon a root of the Elden Tree together after an argument the night prior. Anira turns to Do'Maadrul. And speaks to him regarding her feelings for him, and his for her. During the conversation Anira mentions an old Khaji'ti tradition she remembered little of when a cub, but learned a great deal about while she was being taught about her herritage and the culture of her people in her adoptive parent's attempt to keep her close to her roots as they would say
Do'Maadrul, being a wanderer khajiit since young, did not know much of the khajiiti culture. After spending some time at Anira's side, she mentioned that "she claims him as her own". When she said this Do'Maadrul was confused, as he did not know what she meant, and asked her to explain:
Anira:"It is... old Khaji'ti custom... this one knows it to be...
akin to... what other races call... marriage"
Do'Maa:-blushing- "M-Marriage?!"
Anira:-nods sheepishly- "Y..yes... b-but... due to... Khajiit
nature... some... find it... not as binding as other races
marriage... The... male... may court the female... b..but only
the female can... make "right of claim". -Takes a small breath-
It... must be done in presence of at least 2 females... and five
total witnesses... who... accept Khajiiti culture..
Do'Maa:-blushing and still rather confused- "F-Five witnesses...
and two... females at least... -rubbing the back of his neck-
T-This one still... still does not understand how... i-it works..."
Anira:-sigh slightly and smiles, looking at the confused Khajiit-
"When... the required number are present, this one can enact the
"right of claim". When she does... any other who wishes you to
be theirs may challenge that right. If this occurs... one of
three things must happen. Either Anira must answer the "challenge"
in combat, back down and renounce her claim... or Do'Maa must
choose between those... who claim or challenge."
-takes a breath, then she proceeds- "If we were part of a clan
with a Clan-Mother... there would be a fourth option where the
Clan-Mother would decide wether this one's claim is valid or not.
If the Clan-Mother says this one's claim is valid, then none may
dispute the claim futher. Likewise if she deemed Anira's claim
unacceptable, this one could not challenge that decision either...
a-and... would be forced to renounce her claim... or face exile."
Do'Maa:-rubs the back of his head, trying to understand the harsh
and complex process of the "right of claim"- W-Well... this one
did... did spend most of his life... wandering between forge and
forge... Heh..."
Anira:"It's... a... custome this one remembers from when she was
cub. Her mother and father explained it to her more after they
took her in. They wanted this one to be able to stay close to
her roots... s-so to speak" -sighs- "And... the "right of claim"
is even more confusing when in clan of a Mane..."
