Advance Roleplay Techniques

Recap from Last Week

1. Everything is to be said IC (Without brackets)

5. Have everyone pair up and attempt to punch everyone each other, and point out the god modders.

Out Of Character Techniques

1. Preparing a speech, using the / effectively.
2. Planning an encounter. Discussing it with the other player.
3. Compromising. When players are at a stalemate.
4. NPC's. Asking for other players help.

In Character Techniques (When you are In charge)

1. Preparing a Fail-Safe (That Piece of paper I handed out, but never referred to)
2. Determining When things are within Earshot.
3. Knowing where your character is.
4. When your character is paying attention.
5. Time Warp. When you need to go Out of Character to get somewhere quickly.
6. Using Character Abilities in Role Play effectively. (Ambush, Shadow Stalk, Fire Rune)
7. Stopping to explain what just happened. (When everyone is lost)

Character Background/Character Development
In the course Character Background/Character Development I'll use Qa'han Sandscales as an example. Here's the curriculum I'll use.

1. While announcing the Lesson, encourage everyone to have a pen and paper for them. Notes are encouraged, but not required.
2. Inform everyone that they will be making a fake character over the course of lesson which they will be using.
3. Explain how a character background should dictate how your character reacts to situations.
4. Explain that over time, your character's actions will tell your Backstory itself, rather then having to somehow force the issue to come up. Add a Occupation to their Character.
5. Explain that a character should have a reason for being. A goal that they are working towards. Explain it can be as simple as Riches, survival, or honor, or as complicated finding the one who killed your mother. It should not be an easily achievable goal. Add a Simple Goal to their character.
6. Explain a character must have a should has a set personality, though certain events can change it. Add a Personality Trait to their Character
7. Explain how minor details such as uniquely shaped weapons, fears, and accent adds to a character, and opens more avenues to how your character can react. Add 2 Unique minor traits to your character.
8. (Thanks for the Reminder Ri'sari) Explain flaws. No characters can be perfect. They have to have some weakness. These can be fears, personality traits like greed and rage etc. Add 2 Character Flaws
9. Explain in minor detail Qa'han's Backstory, specifically that he was raised by Khajiit, his true scale color being black, and the loss of his Trading Caravan in Argonia.
10. Explain how those three things have affected Qa'han in roleplaying.

• Ask everyone to pair up into groups of 3, give a scenario, and ask everyone to roleplay out a scene using the fake characters they created.

Character Development

1. Explain that Character Development is how your character changes over time. This includes how your character feels towards other characters, your own character beliefs changing etc.
2. Character should not be set in stone about their ways.
