Dakar's story
One Dream One Reality One Promise

The snow was falling in the misty pass. It was a light snow, the kind that doesn't make a sound. The pine trees stood like pillars as Dakar moved silently through them, they seemed endless as if the end was the beginning. Dakar stopped. His muscular frame stood motionless, as he peered into the distance. The warmth of his breath rose to meet the mist. His eyes focused on the creature in the distance. Through the endless tunnel of trees he saw a pure white wolf. Somehow it was there. It was always there just out of reach. and then.... Dakar awoke.
His vision not so clear and his body writhing with pain. He felt weak. His head foggy and his body aching with cuts and bruises. He knew he was laying on his back but all he could see were two dim lights above him. To foggy to fuzzy to make out. His mind took him back to his past. Back to his lodge under the snow filled twelve pins mountains. The mountain peaks that each had been named after destructive Dragons in the history of the Nordic clans. The outside of the lodge wall was covered with pelts, horns, and weapons adorning it. Dakar's father Reagarr's giant two handed axe "Spinebreaker" was up there amid others. It was their way of life, the hunting and trading of furs. They lived a rugged life and survived bitter cold winter after blizzard conditioned winter.... Dakar's mind drifted to his twin brother Skelkar. They were different as different could be.Dakar with his muscular build and brute strength, and Skelkar with his thin frame and cunning mind. Together they made a formidable pair as Dakar learned to be more tactical and Skelkar learned to be more sneaky strong. it was always a competition between them. Axe throwing for accuracy, axe chopping for wood to build another cabin, who could bring the most bear kills in in a certain time, who could skin the bear the fastest, how much ale could you drink and run the frozen log, who could swim the ice cold river to the other side the fastest. It was a toss up who would win. They enjoyed the battles and agreed it made them both better.....Dakar's mind drifted to the last competition they had, racing down the snowy mountain on their tower shields. It was one crazy ride with nothing but large wooden paddles the women of the clan used to beat the dust and dried frozen mud from the lodge house rugs. Skelkar was sure he would win because he had grabbed their mothers paddle, but when he used it near the finish to knock Dakar off his shield and it broke across Dakar's chest. Dakar got to claim victory and declare Skelkar would lose favor with their mother. they both laughed covered in snow at the bottom of the mountain.
Dakar twitched the two lights still there.
He and his brother returned home. As they approached they knew something was wrong. A look of pain replaced their once happy demeanor's. Bodies lie everywhere in the blood stained snow. Skelkar declared it was wolves. the large battle had claimed everyone, including their mother and father. They slumped to the snow heartbroken leaning against each others back.....Dakar's heart beat irregular and the dim lights began to brighten and clear. His mind returned to Skelkar's tracking skill. The hunt was on. they tracked the wolves up one of the twelve pins. The Wycinxthl named after a large Crystal Blue Dragon, remembered for its freezing fog breath of destruction. Up , up they went pressing hard at an exhausting pace. They stopped a few times to catch their breath, only to see the determination in each others eyes to climb again. Not a word passed between them, just the look that this is my brother and i will fight side by side with him till whatever end.The tracks made their way up to a plateau halfway up the mountain. The snow was falling as they came over the rise of the plateau. back in the pines there they could see the wolves feasting on some of their clansmen. The brothers could hear the flesh rip and growling noises come from the beasts. The brothers charged without thought and axes flaying about, they were upon them. To their surprise the wolves were on two feet as the battle ensued. Their axes cut deep as limbs were severed and blood flew to mingle with snow. Then suddenly more came off the rise above them. Dakar had one on his leg, one in a choke hold under his arm, and one on his back as he back peddled swinging his axe at the ones in front of him. They were overwhelmed. The last he saw of Skelkar was of him swinging wildly at about six surrounding him. He surely wouldn't survive. Then suddenly the snow collapsed beneath Dakar as he was at the edge of the flat. Snow, rock, Dakar, and the werewolves fell down the face of Wycinxthl through the pine tree branches breaking their fall. Finally Dakar came to the end of his slide. he lie there on his back losing consciousness. He weakly turned his head to the side and saw next him a crystal clear like flower. It looked like clear ice. As he continued to look he noticed the pure white wolf laying on the ground just behind it. Calmly laying there, watching him as its eyes closed, Dakar lost consciousness.

Several days passed without knowing......Two dim lights began to become brighter. Dakar began to see more clearly now. Brighter and brighter they became until his vision returned. He could make out a face. A very lovely face. An elven face, with beautiful eyes... the source of the light that had been with him. As Dakar looked into those eyes so beautiful he saw the white wolf looking back and he found peace in his heart. It calmed him and gave him rest. As he closed his eyes, he made a promise in his own heart, never to leave the light behind those eyes.
