ESO Screename: @Tilyndrel
Name: Tilyndrel Runestar
Age: 300
Flair: A jeweled diadem given to her by her father on her 100th birthday
Portrait: Tily
Rumors: Tilyndrel is clearly a powerful mage, always having both a summoned clannfer AND winged twilight as her personal protectors and minions. She often has a haughty look on her face and seems somewhat unapproachable, but to those she does reward with her favor, she is genuine and warm with all the manners of nobility.
Background:
Tilyndrel’s father was a member of the Psiijic order and studied alongside Vanus Galerion. He believed passionately in the fitness of the Altmer to rule Tamriel and was a supremely talented mage. However, on a trip back to Summerset, he met Tilyndrel’s mother, the daughter of a merchant. Though he tried to suppress his feelings, he fell in love. Falling in love with one from the lowest order of society made him begin to question his beliefs to the point that he left the Psiijic order and moved back to Summerset. The couple settled in the coast city of Shimmerene on the main isle, and Tilyndrel was born 40 years later.
Tilyndrel grew up idolizing her father, with highly mixed feelings toward her mother. She relished her father’s stories about the brilliant and independent Psiijics and sought to develop her magical talents to impress him. Her mother, on the other hand, knew only a few simple mending spells and things of more practical use. Her maternal grandparents were people of great wealth but wealth alone is not enough to distinguish one’s self in Altmer society. Rather, one must display extraordinary refinement and taste, something Tilyndrel felt her mother lacked due to her shrewd and pragmatic nature. Although as a young child she was dependent on her mother’s nurturing, the older she grew the more she felt distant from her mother and even resented her for taking her father away from his important life, as she saw it, in the Psiijic order. When her father, who was significantly older than her mother, caught an illness and passed away, Tilyndrel left her family home and set out for Firsthold to join the newly founded Mages Guild being established by her father’s old colleague, Vanus Galerion.
While at the Mage’s Guild, Tilyndrel became deeply absorbed into her studies, believing that the acquisition of knowledge is an elf’s true pursuit owing to their long lives. She became particularly intrigued by knowing the unknowable, and excelled in the schools of Mystic and Conjuration magic. This led to her fascination with the Daedric Prince of Arcane Knowledge, Hermaeus Mora. Through her studies of the prince she became particularly adept at daedric summoning magic and spent many late nights poring over cryptic tomes.
Tilyndrel’s main character flaw is her elitist view of society. When Queen Ayrenn announced the formation of the Dominion, she was inwardly horrified at the thought of sharing rule with the Khajiit and to a somewhat lesser extent, the Bosmer. She does admire the Bosmer for what she sees as their possession of knowledge about the natural world that borders on the mystic; Khajiit, on the other hand, she views as undisciplined and lazy creatures who live to serve their own base urges. However, despite her disagreement with the Queen’s campaign for a united Aldmeri Dominion, she was repulsed by the Veiled Heritance’s brutish response and saw that as very un-Altmer behavior indeed. Her race is one of great thinkers, not underhanded assassins and plotters. Therefore, unhappy with either side but motivated to stay in the good graces of Vanus Galerion whom she views as a father figure after her own father’s passing, she reluctantly sided with Queen Ayrenn.
