Rumors: A small elf, Elsynia doesn't look to be much of a threat, as far as one can tell. She reveres Y'ffre and seems to have respect and admiration to the forests of Valenwood. Observes the Green Pact. Polite and rather reserved based on first impressions, perhaps a little Altmeri even in mannerisms. Other than that, she looks to be just another adventurer. She is often referred to as "Treethane," especially by those who live in Vulkwasten and around the area, though the title isn't an official title.

Background: (LONG STORY INCOMING)

Elsynia Nightwind - Backstory
Born just outside of Elden Root a full-blooded Bosmer, she was raised by her father Elramir, a Spinner of Y’ffre, and her mother Cylari, an artisan and craftswoman employed by the Dominion. The daughter of a priest and an honest workingwoman, Elsynia was taught from a young age to respect the forests and anything or anyone within. She reveres Y’ffre. She also observes the Green Pact, though her travels and time spent on the Isles have taught her to practice certain parts of the meat mandate in private. For example, she will collect some of her fallen opponent and eat it privately, to avoid offending innocent onlookers, on the very off chance she ever has an opponent. Elsynia still carries the notion of general respect for people, no matter the differences they may have taught to her by her parents.

While raised with good morals, Elsynia was still mischievous as a young Bosmer, and had a deep interest in the Bosmeri Rite of Theft. She rarely invokes the rite now.

When she was still a child, her mother was asked to uproot and work in Auridon, outside of Vulkhel Guard, to continue her work with the Dominion. Her father had to stay behind to continue serving the people of Valenwood because spinners do not typically travel far from home, so she and her mother lived there alone. Elsynia was always intelligent, though this intelligence was strengthened by the scholarly education provided by the resident Altmer. Learning helped to develop her of adventure and yearning to travel. She always looks for ways to see the world. Eventually, she decided the best way to do this would be through the Dominion.

She used to make the journey with her mother to the College of Aldmeri Propriety and help fit the soldiers for armor. While she was not enrolled at first, she would read from the libraries there and watch the soldiers train, and would pick up the knowledge. Eventually, she practiced some shadow magic on her own and sharpened her bow skills, and was able to enroll. She joined the Dominion, doing what was needed of her as long as she was able to visit new places. She joined the Dominion, doing what was needed of her as long as she was able to visit new places. Thankfully she managed her years of service on the domestic end of things, never having to enter Cyrodiil.

Early in her first months of working for the Dominion, her father died by a dark mage. Said mage attempted to poison the forests and control the spriggans and other life there. Her father died protecting the forest, using his own body to channel the dark magic poison into himself instead. She feels her father’s spirit is with her in the forests, whenever she finds herself in Valenwood, and can never spend too much time away from the Green. Her mother still lives alone outside of Vulkhel Guard, and Elsynia will visit her on occasion.

Elsynia herself has a kind heart, and is generous to those who treat her well, and tries her best to be patient with those who don't. She does have a sense of humor, sarcasm, and lighter things, as most Bosmer do, though it is counterbalanced by her Altmeri mannerisms. It is almost like an on off switch - she can be formal and businesslike, though she can also be silly. She has the curiosity of a Bosmer, though often times refrains from prying, as she's learned to do from her Altmeri upbringing. She is also fairly hesitant to reveal things about herself. She is much more interested in listening than talking. Her fighting style is similar to these things in her personality. Disliking conflict, she would prefer to quietly sulk in the shadows, working her way around any possible threats.

Auridon & the Dominion

Her mother, Cylari, while Bosmer, always admired the elegance and grace that Altmer had, and she longed to live a similar life. Often times she would watch the people of the Embassy in Elden Root buzzing about. Cylari was afraid of her daughter growing to be nothing but a hunter and ranger. She wanted her daughter to do more with her life, and so when Cylari was offered a job in Auridon, she took it in hopes of her daughter receiving a more formal education.

As the years went on, her mother pushed Elsy to join the Dominion, Elsy oblivious to her mother's fears of her being unable to use her education. Elsynia was eventually convinced the job would allow her to travel, so she joined. At the age of 17 she began training, and served a short 3 years before deciding she hated it.

Elsy was trained as a scout in the Dominion. She handled mostly domestic affairs, keeping the people of the Dominion safe on their own soil. She was never shipped to Cyrodiil, and managed to avoid fighting directly in the war.

Since her time with those of Blue Skooma:
Relationships and Recent Happenings

Some Relationships

Elsy has made many friends since the first time she stumbled across Gnarlus's ship in Woodhearth. One of the very first people she met was her now close friend, Dar'Atrabi. As the ship set sail rather abruptly, the confined spaces lent themselves to creating more friendships and meeting more people. The first night on the water, she met Sylvarris, Do'Ma, and Thorthil amongst others. Once docked, they trekked all the way to Sren'ja. With all of the company she made, she decided to stay around Sren'ja and help when it was needed. She has become friends with many there, including Ji, Elros who she considers a close friend, Ser Krygner Battlecat who is another good friend of hers, and various other acquaintances. Her bonds with others strengthened, and specifically, as her relationship with Thorthil grew, they have become more than friends. As she worked around Sren'ja, a few of her long time friends have stumbled across the town. Krimie, her "leaf-sister," who she knew a few months before helping Gnarlus's ship, now calls Sren'ja home. Ceylian Elsinaire, her best friend whom she considers her brother, has returned from his tour in Cyrodiil, and has made Sren'ja his new home as well.

UPDATE:
It's been years since Elsy first came across that boat. Many friends have come and gone. Elsynia is now the Treethane of Vulkwasten where half of the Sren-ja crew has ended up. Her other friends have settled in Baandari. Atrabi has since passed away. Do'Ma is in Cyrodiil supporting the cause. Battlecat has become the Clanlord to her friends in Baandari. Elros has become a brother to her and serves as a sort of secret guard for her. She worries for her leaf-sister, Krimie, as she just birthed twins and the father lost all memory of them after a hard time in Cyrodiil. She hasn't seen Ceylian in a very long time, after a harsh exchanging of words over his Vampirism. Thorthil disappeared then reappeared then disappeared again.

Other old friends and acquaintances from Sren-ja including Bhidul, Lucrezia, Racuvar, Mok (originally known as Gnarlus), and most recently Bethany, have settled in Vulkwasten in one way or another. She's also made many new friends in Vulkwasten, as well as a few enemies.

Her love life has been a bit rocky. Her once stable relationship with Thorthil became difficult to maintain after his disappearance. He left without warning or explanation for months on end. After a long period of searching and ultimately letting go of him, she spent more months alone. In this time she focused solely on the betterment of the community, which may have very well attributed to her elected position as Treethane. Evenually, after the urging of her friend Eranor, her old friend Alijham pursued the beginnings of a relationship with her. Alijham and Elsynia are now happily married and she mothers Ali's two children he had prior to their marriage. Ali works with Elsy to help the town. He is the main medic.

Recent Happenings

Even more recently, she has been tossed into an internal conflict due to her rash actions. A certain werewolf she is quite fond of attempted to keep her safe as he saw the full moon approaching, by stealing her pack. The pack was filled with meat of her recent kills so that she could eat it, as the Green Pact dictates, and he did not want it on her person, as it would attract unwanted attention from such a werewolf. She always keeps the pack on her not only because of religious reasons, but because it was given to her by her now deceased father, and is the only thing she has left of him. Naturally, she took off after her pack, wanting it back, in spite of Ceylian pleading with her and pulling her back. Elsy was not entirely aware of how close nightfall was due to her drive to get back what had been stolen from her. She successfully tracked the mer, but as she attempted to take her pack back from him, he turned. In an uncontrolled state, he lunged for her and bit her, turning her into a werewolf as well. Ceylian tended to her while the werewolf went off on his own.

Now Elsy is quite shaken and torn. It goes against the Green Pact to be a werewolf. The Green Pact was something she took seriously because of her father being a priest of Y'ffre, and now it is broken. She feels as though she betrayed her father, and would like to get rid of the beast.

On the other hand, being a werewolf may bring her close to the very person who turned her.
In a state of sadness and self-hate for her stupid actions, Elsy must now decide what to do, and in the meantime, she must learn to control the beast, or risk hurting her friends.

UPDATE:
With the help of her husband's father - a priest of Hircine - Elsy has been able to, after a long, dangerous process, be cured of her Lycanthropy. Her father-in-law told her of a clan of witches that would be able to help cure her, but she required an innocent sacrifice. Elsynia was disgusted and refused, but when she confided in an old spinner friend of her father's about her troubles, he offered his life to help her cure herself. He was sickly and bound to die soon, and so he reassured her he would rather his life be used to help her. Finally, she reluctantly agreed and the Rite was performed.

She has been through an awful lot, probably the most notable negative thing being torture by the hand of Daro'Zhinda under the direction of the Blue Skooma Company. She also fought off a Pact general for the good of the town. Ready to give her life for them, it ended up being unnecessary, as her at-the-time fiance, Alijham, ripped out the mer's throat to stop her from getting hurt. Otherwise, she's managed to live alright and generally happy.

Notable flair gained since her time with Blue Skooma:
Scars and Inventory

Scars
-The largest would be 3 thick bands of claw marks down her back, between her shoulder blades. This was unintentionally given to her by her werewolf ex-lover, and a constant remind her of a mistake she made.
-A band-shaped scar on her forearm. This would look like a burn almost and is the result of a silver burn (back when she still had her Lycanthropy). This was given to her by Daro'Zhinda.

Items with her at all times
-Her father's old leather pouch. She keeps Green Pact meats in it.
-She wears a necklace with clay beads and a sapphire, given to her by her husband.
-She wears a wedding ring.
-She wears a metal band of a bracelet, given to her by Elros. She can activate, which will set off a magical tremor in another bracelet that Elros has. The two can use it to notify when the other is in need of something.
-A crown hand sewn with fabric flowers. This was made and given to her by Ylir and Wyndhenir. She keeps it in her bag or pocket.
-A strange stone. It seems to be similar to a soul gem, and will occasionally activate itself. She can hear and see an apparition of her old, deceased friend, Ainoath. She keeps it in her bag or pocket.
-A stick. Good for pretending to have a magic wand. This was given to her by Vajsari - her dear deceased friend Atrabi's little girl - who likes to pretend she's a mage. She keeps it in her bag.
-A journal of assorted hand-written poems and songs about herself. This was given to her by her husband. She keeps it in her bag.
-Loose papers and a writing utensil should she get an idea and need to record it. These are usually tucked away in her pockets.
-Her bracers and hood. She cannot shoot a bow properly without them. She keeps them in her bag.
-One of the keys to the cells.
-A wooden ring inlaid with one topaz and two pearls. It belonged to her mother-in-law.

How is she 24?! And I didn't realize this? She's already a treethane? Someone got brought in to rule under the nepotism clause apparently.

8650171, she's not even technically Treethane. What happened was, a ton of unfortunate stuff happened in Sren-ja back when they lived there, and since the majority of the leaders were in the Sugar Claw Clan and they had already fled to Bandaari, her and the others in Sren-ja needed a leader or someone to help.

So seeing no one was doing much of anything, she started helping and leading and tried to pull them out of the crap that went down, which eventually lead to their migration to Vulkwasten. When the community was still small there, because she'd been the one helping the whole time, people would run to her when they needed something. Then the community grew a little and people kept telling other people to go to Elsy if they needed something, because she could help.

Then The Sugar Claw Clan said something like, Elsy's like the Treethane of Vulkwasten. And so, they would call her that, and then the people in Vulkwasten started calling her that. And then suddenly she was elected to lead the town. Originally she just wanted to be Lady Nightwind, or the Lady of Vulkwasten, but "Treethane" stuck.
