Rumors: Langen has recently arrived in Dominion lands after being exiled from Daggerfall for promoting enemy interests. A little digging will reveal this was actually his questioning the ethics of the Covenant during the current war. He seems to have come to the Dominion more of of convenience than any political thinking, as he is more deeply involved with the Mages guild than anything else. He is generally spoken of as a sorcerer of developing skill, with a focus on the ethical treatment of the poor or "lower classes" during war time. He is thoughtful and compassionate, though there are some whispers about a deep, obsessive quality that rears its head at odd times.
Background: Langen grew up in a farming community to a large, though poor family. His parents instilled in him a deep concept of the ethical treatment of others and the basic rights all people should have access to. However, he was a classic middle child. He never excelled nor failed. In the end mediocrity drove him away from home and to the Mages guild, where he was apprenticed. He remained as such until he was 30, far older than most of his talented class mates.
Proving middle of the pack even away from his family, he has come to have a deep seated fear that he will never set himself apart from the pack. Though his understanding of those stuck in the center has lead him to be a capable diplomat if given the chance, the truth is that he hates it. As time passed and he watched others within the guild grow to capable levels of power, he turned to the worship of the daedric prince Hermaeous Mora in an attempt to gain the knowledge he forever feels he is lacking to gain notoriety and power. He keeps this fact a secret, or at least he has thus far.
Langen currently finds himself stuck between his upbringing and his desires. A man with little of sizable interest in his past has suddenly been pushed away from his homeland. Behind this is the quickly mounting greed for power and knowledge. Soon he will have to begin making real decisions as to what is most important. Will his wish to help his fellow man subdue his desire to succeed, or will he sell it all away for power and fame?
