-From the Journal of Servus Imperii-

16th of Second Seed
I'm almost there now, but I had to rest. Forgive me Akatosh, as strong as your flame burns within my soul, my flesh wearies and I need to rest. Two days past a messenger found me, one of the sister abbeys to the Friary where I grew into adulthood and was taught the ways of The Wedded Gods has come under Daedric assault. How vile these fouls creatures, how wretched! The messenger said that the Sisters of Mara were holding out, their prayers creating a barrier the Daedra could not pierce, but that was two days ago, and it took the messenger four to find me, could they have lasted a week. Oh Mara, sweet Mara, please be with them!

I leave the Abbey with a heavy heart. I arrived and found the barrier still up, but failing. How those girls, many of them no older than 24, held up that long is beyond me. I would have failed. But when I saw that they were alive I was filled with fire. I charged in and began to destroy every Daedra I saw.

I was a fool. I know better than to charge in. I was a thrice-damned fool!

If I had been patient, if I had taken five minutes to check the surrounding area I would have seen them. But I was so concerned with saving the sisters...no, that's not it, I wanted to be the hero. Travelling among the Altmeri lands and being hated for being an Imperial Servant, working with the Khajiit and seeing their...less than upstanding dealings, I just wanted to feel like a GOOD man again. And that pride has cost me, it has cost me dearly, perhaps everything.

While I was fighting Daedra a couple of Vampires, my guess is they're the ones who summoned the Daedra in the first place, snuck up behind me. Before I knew what was happening, I felt their fangs sinking into my flesh. Who knew the bastards had armor-piercing teeth?!

I was able to slay the creatures, I was able to save The Abbey...but I may well be damned for my deeds. Even The Sisters of Mara turned me away, I could see the pain it gave them to do so, but I wouldn't have gone into their homes if they had asked.

The thirst, gods THE THIRST. You can't imagine, you cannot know. It's as though every part of me, every drop of blood, every piece of flesh every thought of my mind bends itself toward sating my desire for blood. Akatosh why are you silent?! I need your strength now more than ever and NOW you stop speaking to me?! You, who have always guided my steps, you who have always been there, in my hour of need you forsake me! CURSE YOU AKATOSH! MAY YOUR TIES WITH MARA BE SEVERED! MAY YOU NEVER FEEL JOY AGAIN YOU THRICE DAMNED DIVINE!

She was child, you bastard-dragon. She was just trying to help me, barely into her twenties and too young to know that the world contains monsters that you should just keep away from. Still full of that youthful foolishness that says, "If I just care enough..." Well, she cared Akatosh, do you hear me?! SHE CARED AND I DRANK! Gods, I nearly drained her dry. Thanks be to Mara that I could still use the healing arts my mother taught me; the girl shall live, but maybe that is a worse fate; to live knowing that when you reached out a helping hand it was bitten.

She was so beautiful, so innocent...damn me. WHERE IS YOUR FIRE YOU DRAGON OF TIME?! WHY NOT CONSUME YOU WRETCHED SEETHING PILE OF-
*here the words become indecipherable*

Has it been days? Weeks? I-I don't know, I ran into Vinavia today as I stumbled into a bar. I didn't even recognize her at first. I collapsed into a chair by a fire and tried not to look at anyone for fear of The Thirst. It was her voice, like a song in the darkness guiding me up, I knew at once it was one of the leaders of The Guard in the Khajiiti company, one of the only worthwhile people I've met through them. (A beautiful Imperial girl being another, but I digress.) Vinavia sat calmly across from me and spoke calmly,

"How long since you drank? Have you drank?"

I confessed to her my evils, what I had done, what I desired to do...or at least I think I did, I was half mad with The Thirst again. But I was sane enough to hear her, to hear her tell me that I must drink. Every part of me wanted to say yes, immediately, but I refused. I could not drink, I just, I could not. But she guided me, carefully, gently to the realization that I must drink. Even taught me how to hunt evil men and women and drink from them, thus sating myself and protecting others.

I'm not much for this skulking around, but for the taste of blood, I could get used to it.

I'm a soldier, I need orders, I can't go back to my brothers in The Order-I am an aberration; I can't go back to The Legion-I'm a monster. For now I will follow the lead of Vinavia, and I will seek a cure, or blood, blood sounds good right now.
