Cesare left Woodhearth quickly after the Sugar-Claws. He had been sent there to strike up a deal with them about transporting skooma to Morrowind. But when he got there, he found they were at war with The Thalmor. He decided now was not the best time to offer a business proposition with them, he would wait until things cooled down first. He decided to stay in Woodhearth and keep an eye on Lucrezia, a dark haired Bosmer that he believed to be his long lost half-sister. He had watched her for several days, learned that she was skilled with dual blades and not bad with a bow. He had thought of approaching her but she was almost never alone, usually accompanied by another Bosmer; a shorter, brown haired male. He wasn't sure if they were a couple or just friends, he assumed that the Bosmer was using her for sexual release every now and then. His sister was an odd one, he remembered the Nords at the orphanages commenting to his father on her oddness, how it was hard for her to make friends; she was wild and sometimes hurtful, usually playing too rough or insulting them. This gave Cesare the impression that no one in their right mind would choose to have a romantic relationship with her, she was just too strange. But he didn't think more of it. He just continued to follow the Clan and look for the right moment to approach them. When he saw the fight break out on the docks, he made sure to get his ship out, in case the Sugar-Claws made it out to sea.
Cesare's ship followed them all the was to Reaper's March. He made sure they stayed far enough behind to not look too suspicious, but close enough to keep an eye on where they were heading. He told his crew to stay on board and followed the Clan and their friends to S'ren-Ja. He went back to his ship and made sure everyone was settled. The next day, while in Rawl'Kha, he spotted Lucrezia shopping for supplies and decided to follow her. He saw her set up camp close by S'ren-Ja. Close enough by horse but still good walking distance, he noticed. Later that night he introduced himself to her. He hadn't meant to scare her, but she was a jumpy one. He explained who he was, an assassin from the Brotherhood of Morrowind and also her half-brother. But instead of her being happy to finally have met him, she laughed at him. Mocked him. Called him insane. Though he tried not to show it, this deeply hurt Cesare and he lashed out at her. He told her to stay out of his way, or else. He then left her there, feeling very smug about how he handled the incident. That will teach her, he thought. No one insults Cesare.
The next day, he made his way into S'ren-Ja. He found a small group of the Sugar-Claws in the Clan Mother's house and just observed them. They seemed to be in good spirits. He decided that today he would strike up a deal, but he first needed to find out who was the best one to speak to. He followed a few of them around and decided that the tall, handsome, dark-furred Khajiit seemed to be the most approachable. And he was right. He spoke privately with the Khajiit, charmed him a little and bragged, and was able to strike up a deal with him. He was relieved to have something good to report back to the Brotherhood. He was on a thin rope with them. Sent to Woodhearth as punishment for getting too personal about the hit on Sven, Lucrezia and Ja'Amore. Something frowned upon as an assassin, and not tolerated in the Brotherhood.
Already excited about the skooma deal with the Sugar-Claws, he was ecstatic when the Khajiit told him that there may be room for him in the clan and to stick around, to better get to know the Clan. Cesare smiled to himself, hopeful of possibly proving himself to the Clan. He bowed to the handsome Khajiit, noticed a good looking Dunmer leaning against the wall near them and bowed to him also. Then he went downstairs and walked outside the Clan Mother's house. He was already starting to feel very pleased with himself and about how his day was going when he was stopped and offered a free drink by a Bosmer passing by.
My luck just can't get any better today, he thought.
He followed the Wood Elf back into the Clan Mother's house to get a drink. He didn't think anything of it when the elf asked him to check the other side of the room for bread. The Bosmer looked harmless to Cesare. He let his guard down because he was having a good day and wanted to be friendly. This would later prove to be a terrible mistake on his part.
After downing the drink, the Bosmer wanted to go back outside, so Cesare followed him out. As he was going down the steps, he felt a bit dizzy. Once he reached the bottom of the steps, he felt like he could barely stand. Then out of no where, the Bosmer punched him, causing him to fall to the ground. Then the little bastard kicked him in the stomach. Cesare tried to get up but he couldn't move...at all. It hit him right then that the clever Wood Elf had outsmarted him and poisoned him somehow. But why? Cesare didn't find out the answer to that question until after the Wood Elf placed him on his horse and then dropped him off nearby a dried up creek, complete with crocodiles. It seemed that the Bosmer was the same one that seeing his sister, Lucrezia, and he was not happy with how he spoke to her the night before.
Cesare laid there on the rock for longest few hours of his life. Every minute that went by, he got more angry. When he was finally able to move, he crawled his way to the bridge, let his men know about the crates of skooma that should be arriving that night and then was finally able to run back to S'ren-Ja. When he reached the Clan Mother's house, the wood elf was gone. Embarrassed and furious, he demanded to know where he was, and Lucrezia too. He was surprised when many people jumped to the Bosmer's defense, even though he had his sword drawn. Humiliated and ashamed, he composed himself, apologized for his behavior and left . He hadn't realized that Lucrezia had so many friends to take up for her and her wood elf friend. He was even embarrassed that the Khajiit he had just made a deal with, saw him lose his temper, which rarely happens. He hoped this would not ruin their business together and the possible chance he had at joining their Clan later in time.
Cesare made his way back to his ship. Bruised, mostly his pride, and tired. He thought long and hard about the days events and decided to later apologize to both wood elves, when he got the chance.
And to not take a drink offered by anyone again.
