A skooma cartel, seeking his defeat to gain money in an upset victory, hired an assassin to face him in the pit. He would not kill her, out of moral. He forfeit the match. This is how me met his wife, in short terms.
It was only after his face-off with Molag Bal and breaking out of the soul prison that he took up arms in the name of the Queen of the Aldmeri Dominion, the one leader who sought peace in a manner similar to his own ideals.
