Sumar's Music Week (Videos)

The artists involved in the production of these performances are highly paid professionals and would appreciate their work not made freely available to the general public.

This concert was made possible by the Omaha Conservatory of Music's Summer Institute Program 2014, a week-long session of master-class instruction, creation, and performances. Special thanks to OCM director Ruth Meints, conductor David Barg, and world-famous composer and violinist Maria Newman.

The Summer Institute involves 160 students, mostly children between the ages of 3-18 with some adult students. This was Sumar's very first year making an original composition that was then sight-read and played by Marian Newman. Please bear in mind that these performances were created in less than a week's time. Thank you and enjoy!

Thank you to Milo for recording and posting these for you guys. And thanks for the compliment! This has been a neat year exploring music. Let me tell you that it is quite difficult to cast ones self in with a bunch of middle school kids in a learning environment. So many of these kids are mini-geniuses of the next generation, and helped me learn so much.

And the composition... I found something in that which I have been looking to express for some time now. I shall continue working with that piece. We had only 4 hours to write those. I imagine it with 3 movements.

Over all, I had a blast. I am also glad to be home again. :)
