"You must go faster, Falulin!" A panicked Newelian shouts to her mare as smoke rises in the distance above the orange flicker she knows can only be flames. Drawing closer and closer to her village by the moment, the screaming becomes more apparent to her, and she continues to urge her horse onward despite being hopelessly afraid of what she may find. Only the good sized pasture behind her hut remains, the one the village horses normally saunter carelessly in - now abandoned, the air thick with smoke and the terrified screams of her tribe. Falulin readily and easily jumps the fencing without prompting, closing in quickly on the village so Newelian can begin to take in the scene.

Daedra. Burning and killing. Much like the stories they had heard, but somehow the stories had not managed to capture the horror that she was now witnessing. As she arrives at her hut and dismounts Falulin, Newelian quickly and silently removes her bow from the mare and begins to sneak around to the front, making it only to the side.

The carnage in the center of the normally peaceful village makes Newelian stumble sideways into the homestead and collapse, making the small bosmer almost impossible to see. For several moments, there she stays, aghast that the scene is far worse than she initially judged it.

Many of the mer she saw only earlier today, not only dead but mutilated, some being eaten by hideous beasts Newelian could never have imagined, but that fill her with terror and dread upon sight. Some beasts that towered over even the tallest in the village, with gargantuan jaws containing dagger-like fangs, razor-sharp claws and scales that seem impenetrable to her simple bow. Others that were small and ugly, but shot powerful blasts of flame into huts, animals and bosmer indiscriminately. Those were the source of the fires that now engulfed the village beyond recognition or repair.

A fireball hitting the hut beside her snaps Newelian out of her horror, and back to conscious thought. Her family. Where are they? Have they survived this? Before she can contemplate this long, a loud and very recognizable scream answers her. Her mother is inside the hut, so close yet so far, separated only by the wall she has collapsed by.

Newelian slips around the corner to where the entrance is, and peers inside to see one of the large beasts with terrifying razor-sharp claws blocking her family from the exit, the opposite wall to the one she was leaning on burning brightly in orange fire. As she sees the beast move toward her mother, father and brother, she loads an arrow into her bow and shoots it at the back of the creature's neck. Just before piercing its neck, the arrow flashes with a quick bolt of what looks like lightning and disappears. Unhindered, the beast moves toward the terrified bosmers as Newelian looses several more arrows that, for some reason, never reach their target.

Just as she sees the razor claws tear into the flesh of her father, causing a gush of crimson blood to pour out of him, the wall of flame explodes out at her with a blinding light, causing an intense, searing heat on her face...

Newelian's eyes shoot open, and she quickly recoils, closing them, as the late-morning sun gleams brightly through the tree's foliage onto her face. Shaking wildly, it only takes her a few seconds to realize it was only another nightmare. She had only fallen asleep in the later dawn hours, though such a short sleep is not uncommon for her. Her past would be far less traumatizing, she thinks, if she wasn't forced to helplessly relive it in countless different ways, almost nightly.

"There has to be some way to get over these, Lu." She says to her mare, tiredly. With that, the gentle horse walks over, leans down and nuzzles Newelian's head softly. Newelian gives a grateful squeeze to Falulin's head and uses her mare to help herself off the ground, then stretches and yawns. Meticulously, she checks the arrows she coated with poison last night, to ensure each one has dried well in the morning sun before loading them into her quiver, and slinging it across her shoulder with her bow. The nightmare has left her appetite in shambles, so she decides to begin her day without eating. She has only a few meager belongings to pack on her mare before she mounts up and continues on her trip back to S'ren-ja.

It is not unusual for Newelian to hope she comes across a dark anchor, but today she spends an excessive amount of time combing the countryside in search of one, hoping to be able to release some of her pent up hatred for Daedra...
