I was one of the early joiners of WoW (back when us women gamers were pretty outnumbered in MMOs...it's been nice to see that slowly start to shift) and played that for a few years. Eventually I found myself spending more time playing Oblivion and Skyrim than WoW, so I was really excited when I heard the next Elder Scrolls game would be an MMO! I got to help beta test, which I found really interesting.
In RL I am a graduate student studying anthropology. I get a lot of misconceptions when I tell people that...I study cultural anthropology, which focuses on modern living cultures rather than archaeological research. My current project which will hopefully become my dissertation is on Muslim/Jewish interfaith groups in the US. I get paid to do my research and it's not like extended college, except in that I get to spend my days reading and writing about stuff I find really interesting. I always loved school and my dream job is to teach undergrads at the kind of institution that really values learning and critical thinking.
Besides gaming, my hobbies include skiing and whatever other outdoorsy activities I can get involved in, social dance (mostly swing and contra), and pleasure reading when I have the energy after all the other reading I do for my work.
My favorite ice cream flavor is Ben and Jerry's Half Baked.
