From the alchemical journals of the Drek'Tai family, Log #30 of the Restorative,
Yesterday I ran into a bit of trouble. As such I have moved myself to the Camp in Grahtwood (I do hope Zura forgives me.) to begin a new experiment for myself. With the loss of my left arm in combat, I have made the necessary purchases of ingredients to affect a full recovery of the limb. Listed as follows.
Four units Daedra Hearts
Four units Emerald
Four units Columbine (with roots)
Six units Scrib Jelly
Two units Emetic Russula
Two units Stink Horn
Two units Daedra Skin
*Scribbled in*
One unit Torchbug
Also required for the method.
One bottle of Greef
One silver treated Mirror of Mirroring Images.
(To make)
Take a Mirror of Mirroring images (Yes, one of those parlor trick enchanted items you see popular with the nobility.) and coat it in a fine powder of voidsalts and silver. Brush with heat until the mixture sets into the surface but is still reflective.
The first part of this recipe requires a lot of time in preparation. First one has to make the columbines root into a pulpy substance and then grind down the emeralds (to dust) to mix with it and set it to boil in a retort, collecting the vapors in a liquid state.
Next, I had to reduce the Daedric hearts into ash in the calcinator to begin treating the Scrib Jelly and Daedra Skin with the ashes. Leave alone for two hours to cure.
Prepare a large bowl of distilled water. Purest you can create. Mix in the jelly/ash mixture slowly, one must only stir counter clockwise, to avoid ruining the the mixture and creating a vat of drain luck potion.
The mixture in the bowl must be like that of Oil in consistency, it cannot be too thin and cannot be so thick it congeals. Once in this state, add collected Columbine root / emerald extract. The mix should be a pearly blue. Like looking through shimmering water. You must be able to see the stirring stick at the bottom of the bowl.
Once in that state, place the Daedra Skin to soak within the bowl.
This is the growth mixture, it is finished. Cover until use.
**To permit growth and recovery, one must have something that keeps the wounding the healed skin as it regenerates.**
*note* This mixture is acidic and must only be kept in a ceramic bowl.
Add ground Russula to a base of Greef, slowly stir twice clock-wise, then once counter. Repeat ten times till mixture bubbles of it's own reactions and is a dark orange color.
Once bubbling, add shaved Stink Horn and set in the Alembic until it has reached a purity state of three.
*Note* Finished product may melt the final glass condenser of your Alembic, use a cheap model if possible.
While preparing the mixture, a Torchbug landed in the acidic serum and was dissolved. The properties must have changed in some way, however, the result or the effects of the change were negligible.
With both mixtures prepared, the next step is to re-expose the flesh and bone. This will be done with a sharpened steel axe.
*The page is smeared with blood.*
Exposure method extremely painful, almost lost consciousness. Suggested two unit dose of moonsugar on patients for treatment.
Treatment begins by placing bowls of each compound in front of the patient. While in this record treatment was administered to myself by myself, this one suggests the help of at least two assistants to hold the treated down.
Place the limb into the regrowth froth and allow for it to fully heal. The arm should gain about an inch in length. Remove.
Move the healed arm portion to the acid. Let stand over the vapors until skin blisters. Dip the smallest portion you must to re-expose bone. Return directly to the regrowth solution.
Allow for wound to heal, and repeat until at the wrist.
**Everything this one has written has been recorded previously in other experiments, this next method was of my own creation.**
Take a Mirror of Mirroring images and suspend it above the bowls. Have it reflect the image of any hand of the proper side back into the bowl.
The image must sit for a full two minutes. Observe the Growth mixture to ensure the emerald dust coats the silvery image completely. You should not disturb the mixture in anyway, the magicka from the image attracts the dust itself and the resulting frame is fragile.
Dip the wrist into the acid to expose the bone, withdraw the mirrors image from the solution. Guide the wrist to the emerald framework. A new hand should form near instantly. The solution will be exhausted at this point and you must remove the Daedra Skins.
Wrap the new hands fingers with one portion of Daedra Skin, then the whole arm with what remains. This is essential as the fingers could heal together otherwise.
**The appearance of the hand my also be that of the mirrored image, I have not replicated whole limbs this way before.**
*final note* One should not attempt to replicate this experiment in the field as it was conducted. Insects risk compromising the delicate balance of production. The risk of passing out from pain is too high. Also, don't use an axe to start you off. Use the acid.
End log
