It was an early morning, with the golden rays of sun passing trough the narrow windows and filling the room with a warm, welcoming feel. One can still hear the occasional sound of hammering every now and then, as the Guard Barracks undergo the planned renovation...

A young Breton woman was standing by the window, watching the sun rising above the golden hills of S'ren-Ja. She thought back to the time when she entered this town for the first time. Seemed like a life-time away now. Often she wondered what would have happened had she left this little town behind, like so many others in her travels... Shaking her head, she turned back to face a pile of unsorted parchments on her desk. She sighed. It was the first day of Bethany Hawke, a native of a remote Island of Kirkwall, on her new position as the captain of the town guard. Was she afraid? A little. Nervous? You bet... But she was also determined to do the most good she could possibly can for the people of this little town, a town she was finally able to call home...

Sitting down behind an old desk, she began sorting trough various notes and reports that had piled up here since the time of her predecessor. Kade, as good of a warrior an officer as he is, wasn't much into sorting trough the paperwork... But before she could even begin, a sound of footsteps came from the lower section of the building, and up the stairs. Bethany placed the parchments down, curious as to who was it that was about to step into the doors of her office...

Mo'jahi Ice-Eye steps through the door and into the office of the new Guard Captain. He approaches the desk and regards the young Breton woman sitting behind it. Mo'jahi finds it curious that such a person won the tourney and then he remember that the Breton was adept in the arts of magick, something he himself could not say at all.

"Greetings Guard Captain, this one is Mo'jahi Ice-Eye. Mo'jahi congratulates you on your promotion. You have shown your skills in combat. However, to prove you are worthy to this one, he has a small riddle for you. Do you wish to hear it?"

Stands tall and looks around, waiting for an answer. Today, unlike most days, he is without his armor, the only weapon with him being his dagger Goblin's Friend. Mo'jahi looks to the Captain as she starts to speak...

Jendaaren strode into the little desert village of Sren'ja, located in Reapers March. Layers of dust and filth coated his pale sun-bronzed skin, his red mid length hair grimy and disheveled. He thought briefly about cleaning up before he approached the Guard Office for a position among their town guard, but tired and eager to find rest chose to skip that part, after all he was a warrior-adventurer and he simply looked the part. He had journeyed many months and was keenly seeking a place in which to settle and make his mark.

He knocked on the doorway before he stepped inside the humble khajiit designed construction and introduced himself. He was dressed in medium leather outfit, that barely passed as protective armour, an uncommon 'northern barbaric' style rarely seen this part of the world. Large muscles bulged in every direction from underneath his skimpy attire. Women nearly always swooned and men oft ran at the very sight of him. Those first impressions were entirely unfounded though, he was by nature a friendly, fun-loving guy, that preferred to brawl for fun than actually fight.

"Well-met m'lady, my name is Jendaaren, Son of Johaaren of Tribe 'Aren from up north. I would like to apply for a position among your guard, if you will have me." He spoke with thick northern accent, having never traveled outside of Clan Lands, his voice deep and gravely, but pleasant. He tipped his head forward as he saluted the Female Captain in an unfamiliar fashion, with his sword-arm raised in a V across his chest to thump his opposite shoulder, at the same time bringing his heels and feet snapped together in a stiff stance. In his tribe, this is a humble act and one signifying non-aggressive approach. A warrior in this position was severely disadvantage, being in a vulnerable stance, with his or her sword arm temporarily out of commission, one unfamiliar with Northern Custom would not realize this.

Author Notes:
Jendaaren exists in a pre-history world of my creation - not truly North in Tamriel, although it should not affect anything LORE wise so I am keeping him true to my lore rather than ESO world. You could say he is more Northern, from un-discovered lands if it makes it simpler for everyone. :)

"Greetings Geargo! Of course, I always have time for you. What can I help you with?" - she was just about to get up from her desk, when she noticed a small note on top of the pile of documents. Taking a quick glance at the note, frowning a little, she looked at Khajiit, warmly but expecting him to get down to business.

note:
At first I thought to fit all 3 of them in one instance, but is seemed more logical to deal with one at a time, after another ^^

John does not enter the Captain's office. Instead, he waits just outside, arms folded over his chest and his back against the wall. The blonde, blue-eyed, muscle-bound Imperial looked more like a thug than a proper guardsman as he watched each petitioner enter, and listened to the conversations going on inside Captain Hawke's office.

Lucrezia walked up to the Captain's Office, but then hesitated. She noticed there were already a few people inside and she didn't want to barge in and interrupt. She noticed John waiting by the door, looking like he wold rumble with a bear if it came near the door. She giggled to herself and walked over to the serious looking Imperial and sat down on the ground nearby.

John looked down at the petite woman curiously, wondering what she was snickering about. "Got any problems, troubles, conundrums or any other sort of issues, major or minor, that I, as a good friend, can help you solve?" he asked Lucrezia with a smirk, keeping his voice low.

"Sure, you can answer a question for me. Do you ever relax, John? Or do you always look like you're ready to wrestle anything and everything?" She looked up and smirked at him. Then she looked back into the office, seeing those inside still talking. "Overhearing anything interesting?"

John chuckled, "Of course I relax. I just know that the first time I let down my guard, someone's going to clobber me when I'm not looking. So," and he smiled. "I'm always up for a wrestle."

Turning his head to peer around the doorjamb for a second, he shook his head at Lucrezia. "Ice-eye seems obsessed with riddles, for some reason. And there's been a steady stream of congratulations and new guard applications. The usual day-to-day."

She laughed and nodded, "That is true. The moment you think you're safe is when you're really not." She stands up and brushes the dirt off her armor, then leans against the wall.

"Ice-eye? I don't think I've met him yet, but I've heard of him." she peeks inside the office to get a better look. "Well, I was going to congratulate her as well. And ask what she wanted me to do today. I'm incredibly bored."

"Him? He's got a temper, and got himself banished way back. Before Woodhearth, even. I guess he got forgiven." John shrugged. "I'm a believer in second chances."

"You could stand guard with me, if you're bored." He suggested. "It's what I do. You get to hear some pretty amusing stuff, sometimes."

Lucrezia smiles and stands at the other side of the door, "I can help guard. Maybe we'll hear something interesting."

She listens to his description of Ice-Eyes. "A temper, huh? Just what we need around here, another hot head." she frowns. "Well, maybe he won't do something this time to get himself banished again. I too believe in second chances, but only if they are truly deserved."

Mo'jahi Ice-Eye heads out the door, seeming content although not much can be seen underneath all of his heavy armor. He seems to wear is almost always, never appearing in anything lighter even under the open sun in the hot desert. Just as he passes he just about hears Lucrezia say something about second chances but then quickly quite down. Wondering if they had been talking about him, he slowly continues on his way.
