'Tis an old tale, how we Thunderlegses got our name. Our hallowed progenitor was actually half-giant; he came over with the first sons of Skyrim from Atmora. His first name we know was Heimdall, but since the village nicknamed him "Heimdall Mammothlegs" - partly due to his size and partly due to the mammoth herds of his giant ancestors - his actual last name has been lost to time.

Due to his mixed heritage, he sought to promote understanding and kinsmanship between all he met on the new continent, regardless of race. Suffice to say, when I use the term "kinsmanship" I don't mean it in just the "brotherhood" sense...he really did try to promote ACTUAL..."kinsmanship" with pretty much every creature he met, one of these being a storm atronach.

Don't ask me why, or how...please...but really all that needs be said is that things somehow...worked out? And after that, he was known as Heimdall Thunderlegs and/or Heimdall Thunderloins, depending on which genealogy scroll you're studying.

In fact, since Heimdall was so zealous regarding his..."multicultural exchanges" that depending upon which record you're reading, you might have also seen him listed as:

Heimdall Altmerlegs
Heimdall Orclegs
Heimdall Porklegs
Heimdall Horklegs
Heimdall Skeevertail
Heimdall Sprigganbranch
Heimdall Minotaurhorn
Heimdall Mammothtusk

But ultimately, according to family tradition it was his attempt to be known as "Heimdall Dragontail" that led to his untimely demise, and also led to his tombstone bearing the inscription "May Sovngarde be more accepting of Heimdall than the dragons."

Now as far as *I* am concerned, I'm definitely not as...er..."zealous" as my ancestor was regarding peace and brotherhood among different races, but a party's a party, and a party isn't a party without ol' Thunderlegs. As the saying went among my pals' parents when I was a lad, "Oh dear, Odin's here."
