15th Sun's Dusk, 6:42 AM
Ruins of Vilcano, Tenmar Forest Elsweyr

The crackle of thunder and flashes of lightning echoed across the landscape as heavy, bitterly cold rain lashed the ancient ruin. The white stone doors to the ruin were blasted open spraying hot shards of marble and granite out from the entrance like a shotgun blast. Followed behind it a Khajiit ran out, collapsing onto his hands and knees on the muddy, wet ground. Behind him the wails of vampiric horrors echoed out from behind him. He panted heavily underneath the helmet where blood dripped from the mouth guard and under the armoured chin. His body burned, ached as steam and mist evaporated off the armour sending streaks of blood down the smooth sides and back. Deep gashes and cuts covered the armour where rain got in making them sting.

The adrenaline still coursed through his body and soon the injured feline slowly stood up with bleary eyesight started stumbling down the path away from the ruin, his left arm hanging limply by his side whilst his right supported the shoulder. His goal was Torval the massive Capital City of Elsweyr. His injuries and exhaustion were quickly catching up to the golden furred male, his head felt heavy and with a grunt he slowly unclasped the heavy, battered, dented and bloody helmet and slowly lifted it off, letting it hit the ground with a wet splash into the muddy water. He stumbled for a few feet more before collapsing onto the path once more. He reached forward with his good arm, trying to drag himself forward in the bitter, icy rain leaving a watery, bloody path behind him in the mud but didn't get far. Instead he forced himself onto his back and laid there, hot breath escaping his muzzle like a thick cloud of white smoke. The loud Pitter-Patter of rain and rumble of thunder the only noise he could hear. Around him blood washed from wounds and crevices in his armour leaving a muddy, bloody pool about him.

The lights were fading on this morn, the want to get back to Torval, home.. was waning. He remembered much as to the why they were here, why he and four others had come but only three leave. As the witch said, alone.. on a bloody trail He coughed a bit with a smile at that. It was nice to know that some fortune tellers were capable at their craft rather than telling you what you want to hear. He couldn't continue on, not like this, not in the state he was in. Death was coming, knocking on his door with the last telegram. He could already see it happening, his mother getting the Honor Guard Amulet he wore as well as the final letter.

A large shadowed figure approached him, coming into view it was the face of a Senche-Raht companion of his "Ri'Kharan..." He whispered, the massive tiger's wet face a beautiful sight to see in this grey, dreary land. He laid down next to the fallen warrior in a protective manner as much as a 12 ft at the shoulder Senche-raht can do. The fading flames of life were almost extinguished until this moment, where a momentary spark of life came to light. All it needed was something to push it, something to give it energy to feed from. The warrior slowly lifted his right arm and gripped ahold of a few leather straps, twisting them around his wrist and forearm he slowly, but surely pulled himself onto the massive, wet senche's back. Blood smeared across the deep burnt orange fur as he laid on the large cats back. "T-Torval.." he uttered out as Ri'Kharan slowly stood up and began a slow trot back towards the city. What fuelled the spark that the warrior? Vengeance for the fallen.

Ma'Rikka, Jo'Rasha..I promise I will make him suffer for this.. you have my word. Be it in life or death Verak'Ra will pay for his crime...

Seven Years Prior

12th Morning Star, 8:24AM
Torval, Elsweyr

A strikingly beautiful, clear morning in Elsweyr's capital city of Torval made for a vibrant and positively charged day for its inhabitants. The sugar was flowing and there were few skooma-addled khajiit on the streets begging for coin or food so they may feed their habit or their hungry bellies. A Young Cathay-raht ran his way through the wide open streets lined with beautiful buildings made from Valenwood Oak and decorated with striking motifs. A greatsword hung off his back where the blade tip dragged across the solid sandy ground leaving a shallow gouge in the ground. His clothing spoke of his status amongst the Khajiiti, he was wealthy as it showed through the Silk and Cotton brightly coloured, uniform cloth that he wore.

He ducked under a street performer and hoped over several barrels of water and expensive liquor being delivered hither and yonder. Ahead he could see his destination, the North Western barracks for the Warrior Guard, a decently sized complex of four buildings surrounded by a large stone wall with a few watch towers situated strategically around it. He darted past the gate and headed for the central building which doubled as both the Prison, head office and other central services that the guard here would need. The inside of the complex was filled with khajiiti guardsmen in their armour as well as the occasional civilian.

The office itself he headed into was a well ventilated room that had a breeze way for every time of the day to maintain optimal temperatures, the desk where his new boss sat behind was a solid Ebon wood desk, more than likely an extremely expensive import from out of town. He focused on his boss, a pale looking Khajiit sporting Clouded Leopard markings covering his body. Quite striking and unusual for khajiiti fur patterns. The young male quickly unfolded his parchment and put it on the desk and slid it to the man and stood straight and at attention. "Kad'Ra Thorkan." The deep, gravely voice spoke as he picked up the parchment and read it over. "You're late. Do not be late if you wish to serve within the Guard. I am your Commanding Officer Shader'ri, get to the grounds outside and find Za'kir. He will be your trainer with the rest of your new unit. You cannot miss him. Now go." Kade nodded quickly and headed out "Might want to change the clothes when you get a chance, rich kids aren't...appreciated around here much." Shader'ri said as the young male left.

Kade flicked an ear, unsure of what that actually meant but headed downstairs anyway, heading back into the grounds and spotting a group of 40 Khajiit all lined up in rows with what he presumed to be Za'kir in front. As he headed over Kade could instantly tell this group was not city born. Part of him felt his heart sink as he realized he may have enlisted at the wrong barracks. Za'kir spoke up as Kade got within ten feet "If you're here to join up you're at the wrong compound rich boy. I can smell the incense you used to clean yourself with this morning."

Kade's expression was one of extreme embaressment as he looked at those gathered, he was the runt of the group of these massive desert cats. They looked and smelled of the desert sands. Various khajiit with pale sandy colourations, spots, stripes and blotches whilst some were straight up unmarked. Their clothing spoke of it as well, loose fitting, black robes and hoods. Some sporting small beads or mildly precious stones added to them for intricacy and beauty. "No. I am at the correct one!" He stated with a puffed chest and a confidant tone to his voice. Which caused the instructor to spin on a hill and lock eyes on him, feral, sharp eyes that could kill with but a stare. "Really?! So you got spine huh? Think you got what it takes? Get in line, we'll see how long you last." Kade quickly shuffled into line at the front at the end, next to a rather tall, mountain of a Khajiit who gave him a bare hiss of a greeting before looking forward at Za'kir. "Welcome to the Desert's Storm!"

My first day as a Warrior Guard in training, I had yet to realize what I was about to walk into. The trials, the tests, the near breaking points but in the end, I came out better for it.

20th Sun's Dawn, 5:45 AM
Desert's Storm Barracks
Torval, Elsweyr

It'd been little over a month since Kade had joined the Warrior Guard and already his childhood of training was paying off. Physically he was able to keep up with them, skill wise it was a different story but he was getting there. After all these were men that had been growing up fighting, hunting, stalking and more. It'd been brutal though for Kade, the early wake up calls weren't the issue since his ability to sleep was not directly proportional to how much energy he'd spent during the day. Every individual in the unit had been paired up with another and they shared a room together. A set of bunks that sat in one corner of the room with a chest of drawers and a wardrobe on the other side of the room with a desk and mirror.

Kade had been paired up with the largest male Cathay-raht he'd ever seen, who stood at a whopping Seven feet tall and built like a brick wall. His name was Ri'Zak though most just called him Zak if he tolerated them enough, which was to say very few people he liked. Kade seemed to have at least earned something from him in terms of tolerance. Maybe it was because he was the proverbial runt of the unit? Either way he was the most dominant of all the khajiit here save Za'kir himself and had this air of regality to him. Kade liked being near him, he was afraid of the man but at the same time felt safe and comfortable as well which was rather odd to say the least.

Kade laid on the bottom bunk staring up at the bottom of the top bunk where he could see the outline of Zak's sleeping form and hear his breathing. Soon they were to be awake and down into the mess room and eat breakfast. Thankfully it wasn't Kade and Zak's turn in there to cook for some Forty Khajiit with large appetites. Kade scratched himself and went to get up from his spot and stretch out, kicking the blanket off his body in the process. He got up quietly and put some undergarments on, digging quietly through his chest of clothes he pulled out a pair of black silk ones, following up with a pair of pants. Though before he was able to even put them on he felt a heavy hand on a shoulder and slowly he raised both paws with the palms out as if to say I surrender hoping to hell he didn't wake the sleeping beast. "Kad'ra it is nearly breakfast time and you have yet to shower." came a deep, heavily accented voice from behind. "No Zak. I was not wanting to wake you. Least you get angry and.."

"And what?" Zak asked, Kade could feel a look boring through the back of his head and slight amount of pressure being applied to the shoulder. "N-Nothing! Just get.. Mad and grumpy is all. Sir." Kade responded. Zak laughed though and patted him on the shoulder as he walked for the door "Do not worry, for I was awake a little while ago. See you in the Hall, do not be late!" Then headed out the door. Kade's heart was racing as he turned and lowered his hands and almost had his jaw drop as the large Khajiit had walked out, without anything on! Zak was big in every manner and this was extremely evident, Kade quickly turned back to his trunk and took a few deep breaths to settle his heart rate. He looked down and his ears immediately flatted to the sides of his head in embarrassment. He had a hell of a hard-on and it was not going away any time soon! After a bit of adjustment after putting on his pants Kade made the awkward walk down to the Mess Hall where they had breakfast, following up with a morning bath and getting into their armour.

Today was going to be one of many tests, in this case it was durability and fighting skill with a Staff. For it was a requirement that every individual of this unit to be deadly proficient with anything that can be a weapon aside from their particular specialities. Standing out in the line with every other Khajiit of the Desert's Storm they were put into pairs, Kade naturally was with Zak off the top much to the dislike of some of the other members of the unit. Kade didn't properly understand tribal dynamics and being the only southern khajiit inside a group of Tribals from the North and the wastes it made things tough in many aspects. Some of which being language, customs and expectations. Zak was the second son to a particularly infamous Chieftain and tribe that lived out near the Halls of Colossus in the desert. The tribe itself ran by the moniker of Mo'jo-Khaj or Desert Demons as a rough translation. Some within the unit felt that Zak had taken to favouring the city dweller over those closer to his nature.

Kade looked up at Zak as they faced one another, staves in hand and nothing to really protect their bodies aside from cloth and fur the sparring began. Kade went in for the obvious strike to the knee only to have the Staff caught under foot and rather abruptly getting whacked in the head, hitting the ground and sudden blackness. He came to a few minutes later with the face of Zak up close and personal, big gold eyes staring into Kade's blue ones. Without a word Kade was hauled onto his feet and handed his staff "Light touch, you'll live. Begin again." Zak stated in his usual short manner, Za'kir their trainer watched on as the khajiit trained.

Hours later when they took a meal and water break Kade was sore as hell. Though he'd given as good as he got after realizing to use his shorter stature and better agility against the monolith of a Khajiit that was Zak. The two ate in peace with several others in a circle, some conversation happening here and there and the occasional joke being passed about. It was like a family here and everyone was apart of it. No matter the tribal affiliation that each individual had, well for the most part. Kade had stopped using any fancy perfumes or expensive clothing and had gone for similar garb they wore, adjusting easily enough aside from his undergarments. He was not walking around amongst all these guys naked. The rest of the day went by as it did in the morning, more physical training followed by two hours of personal time before dinner and bed.
