So~
How many of you know what IRC [Instant Relay Chat] is, how to use an IRC client, and would be interested in a BlueSkooma channel if I created one?
-big eyes-

Anyone?

IRC is basically the grandfather of instant message?
It's a giant chat client that lets you IM groups.
It's used for just about everything-- including roleplay.
It's been around since the beginning of the internet.

There are a handful of clients for it-- most popular are mIRC and xchat.
I use xchat-2 for Windows, which is the freeware version of x-chat.

It operates very similarly to the chat system in ESO-- in fact, most MMORPGs use an IRC-based script for running their global chats.
However, with channels, you only get messages from people IN the channel.

The Server is where Channels are hosted-- think of the server like the forum, and the channel as the thread.

It's kinda like TeamSpeak, except way more customizable and silent which is good for my late-night habits. xD

So like Skype Chat?

Skype's chat was developed from IRC, yes. :3
Again, IRC clients are more moddable-- you can customize them in about a hundred thousand different ways if you know what you're doing with the Scripts. (I don't know much, I'm a dabbler, not a whiz, hehe.)

If you want to come check it out without downloading a client, you shhhhould be able to.
Mozilla firefox comes with Chatzilla add-on, so you could run it right from your browser if you use Firefox. (http://chatzilla.hacksrus.com/)

If you do use the Mozilla addon, then in your URL bar, just copy and paste irc://paralysis.tx.us.darkmyst.org/ to open it and get to the server
and then in the text bar, type /join #BlueSkoomaRoleplay to get into the channel I've got open. :3

If this actually picks up, I'll set ChanOps and such to run and maintain the Channel and such and have their awesome officerstatus in the channel xD

I got my start to RP life on mIRC about 12 years ago. It was great fun really but I pry wont ever download the client again myself. Just cuz ... *sigh* I've moved on *tear*

LoL but in all seriousness this isn't a bad idea BUT it's kinda old school.
