*An unfolded letter is left on Afer's bed*
Dear Afer,
If you’re reading this that means that something has happened to me causing me not to be able to see you. First thing I want to say to you is I'm sorry. Im sorry i wasnt there for you and your mother when when the village was raided. Im sorry i wasn't there to save your mother from the slaughtering. I m sorry I wasn't there for almost all you life. Im sorry Im most likely won't be able to see you right now. Please know, when i joined the army I was thinking of you and your mother. I wanted to protect you both by fighting on the front lines and protecting our home, but i was foolish I was foolish to not realize that danger is everywhere and I should of stayed there by both you and your mothers side and protected both of you from home. I sorry I failed you Afer, I failed everyone in the village, I failed my father, my son, my wife, I failed EVERYONE. For years I lived on knowing how many innocents are dead because of my failure. When I heard news of a boy by the name Afer traveling across Tamriel I left immediately and tracked you. I risked getting arrested for desertion and I may get arrested by the dominion shoulders for being here for being in their territory without permission, I don’t care i wanted to see my boy again, but i will write this letter just in case something does happen to me causing not to see you. I’ve tracked to this place, S’ren Ja, but the guards here say you’re a guard here That is beyond amazing for a boy your age to already be able to protect the innocents already. Please Afer I want you to do something for me, I want you to be.......... *Thalmor Agents come in and interrupts Maro and kills him
