Name: Firiel Thevenin
Age: 23
Race: Bosmer
Class: Nightblade
Hobbies: Woodworking (especially bows), playing lute, cooking and reading.
Personality traits: Firiel is generally very even-tempered and slow to become angry or frustrated. She often feels sorrow, but does her best not to let those emotions leak onto her face. Get a drink into her and she will become happy, warm, and will perhaps spill a few secrets.
Ideals: Firiel used to strictly adhere to the Green Pact. Multicultural influences in the land have caused her to break the pact. Something over which she feels much guilt. Her justifications for this choice are somewhat utilitarian. She still strongly reveres certain plants (e.g., trees). Firiel also has a strong need to represent Bosmer in the face of Altmer. Her hope is to serve as a humanizing influence so that those in rule ensure fair policies.
Flaws: Firiel sometimes misunderstands the customs of others. Due to limited exposure to different cultures as a youth, she still has a tendency to rely on stereotypes and will sometimes make ignorant assumptions.
Rumors: Some mouths will say in hushed whisper that Firiel worships the daedric prince Hermaeus Mora. Others may imply that she is on the hunt for forbidden knowledge. Others simply imply that she collects knowledge to gain power.
Background: Firiel was raised in an isolated region of Grahtwood by a small Bosmer community. Her community feared the colonization of Grahtwood and regarded incoming races (especially Altmer) as a threat to their well being. For many years, Firiel shared this outlook.
As an adolescent wandering in the woods from her community, she encountered a group of Altmer who she secretly began the visit. Initially she spoke with them simply for trading goods. But, eventually Firiel found herself trading for books and for stories. These became her window to a world beyond the one she had known. She began to visit the Almer more and more, trying to gain knowledge. This continued for a couple of years. The elders in her community sensed a change in her, though she had kept her meetings and treasures secret.
Once she came of age, she decided to travel on her own to some of the major cities in Grahtwood and nearby Auridon, inhabited by Altmer and Khajiit. Using her skills as a thief and a mercenary, she made her way. These travels changed her life forever.
Firiel began to see the colonization of Grahtwood as an unstoppable force; a force that she knew would forever change the life of Bosmer. Firiel began to see a role for herself in this shifting tide as one akin to a peace ambassador. She hoped that by helping highly influential Altmer she can help shape attitudes about Bosmer and the sort of rights they deserve. Though she certainly doesn't agree with the currently ruling structure, Firiel tries to be practical about the sort of positive changes she can make, working on small goals towards the road of equality.
