Deqing’s family’s merchant caravan was raided by bandits when he was still a kitten. Deqing and the other young members of the caravan were sold into slavery. Deqing was sold to a Dunmer he only knew as Master. He lived a difficult life working the forge with Master who had a short temper and beat Deqing often. Deqing escaped after many years when Daedra attacked. He used this distraction to kill his master and flee. It is unknown how Deqing made it back to the Dominion. Now, as an Eye, he is fiercely loyal to the Queen. He has devoted his life to the Dominion and the Queen.
Recently, he investigated Vampire activity with a group of whom he thought were allies. They turned on him and made him a Vampire. Deqing originally thought he was cursed and thought about ending his own life to prevent word of his defilement getting back to the Queen but his newfound powers proved themselves more than useful in his quest to protect the Queen. He’s heard of whispers of a cure for Vampirism and his conscience urges him to seek it out. Some new quest or delay always seems to pull his attention (conveniently) elsewhere anytime he considers it. Meanwhile, each day, Deqing’s humanity (Khajiitity?) slips away.

Deqing is most often seen as cold and standoffish. He sees everyone as a potential target or threat. Some refer him as creepy. Inwardly, Deqing struggles to fit in. Years as a slave has made him jumpy and jaded. He strives most to fit in with Khajiit longs for their approval. Though he remembers many Khajiit stories and customs, much of his culture before he was a slave was lost in time. He has a difficult time speaking eloquently or portraying his thoughts without coming off rude. He rarely tries to be insulting though. He tries to cover up his Vampirism which often makes him look shady. Deqing mimics the suave actions of Razum’dar often to ill effect. He flirts with other Khajiit but lacks severely the confidence to back it up. It often ends with Deqing excusing himself due to embarrassment.
