Name: Reynard Blacktree (@Dalelander)
Race: Bosmer
Class: Nightblade

Religion: Worships Azura, Venerates Y'ffre

Age: 30 yrs [Early 20's Human equivalent]
Sex: Male

History:

Early Years:

I spent my early years in Northern Grahtwood where I had a happy childhood.

This changed when my parents were killed by a pack of Trolls. Orphaned, soon went to live with my Uncle at the Redfur Trading Post.

He was a member of the Hollow Moon, and soon I was being taught the arts of thievery to assist in the 'good' work the Hollow Moon performed.

While I was treated well, I soon became dissatisfied with the life of a minor thief and began dreaming of ways to improve my situation. Soon my prayers would be answered.

One day, a small detachment of Imperials visited the trading post. That night in the tavern, I was enthralled by the stories the sergeant told about the Imperial Legions. In the morning, before the Imperials departed, I approached the sergeant and asked about joining. After asking my age ("Son, you look a bit on the young side") and finding the answer acceptable, he took my oath and I accepted the Emperor's Denarii. It was 2E 570 and I was 18 years old. [Human Equivalent: 13-14].

In the Legions

When I joined the Legions, I had thought so being a great hero, silently stalking through the forest, striking down enemies.

The reality was very different.

As a bosmer, I was not deemed fit to fight with the legions. Instead, I was inducted into the Quartermasters Corps.
Rather than bravely facing enemies on the battlefield, I faced pots of gruel, rusty and dull weapons, and any of the other myriad tasks required for an army to function. Necessary tasks, but not any that the 'noble' Imperials could be bothered to perform when they had 'inferiors' to do the work.

When I was new to the army life, I soon found a mentor in an old Khajiit names SugarLicker who also served as a quartermaster. He taught me the ins-and-outs of army life and helped me adjust and to deal with being looked down upon as non-human scum.
He also introduced me to the worship of Azura. Never being particularly religious, I soon came to find comfort in the Mother of Twilight.

This continued for the next eight years until 2E 578 and the Emperor's ill fated attempt to legitimize his claim on the Ruby Throne. The Soulburst occurred, throwing the Empire into turmoil.

Many frontline troops were withdrawn to Cyradiil leaving the frontiers relatively undermanned.

I and my friend SugarLicker were reassigned from our quartermaster duties to a small scouting unit. (The powers that be thought that khajiit and bosmer would be suited to stealth and scouting.)

The majority of our unit was Bosmer and Kahjiit, but the officers and sergeants were Imperials who were chosen to remain in the frontier due to 'political' or other problems. In short, our leadership was lacking, and had a distain for being saddled with 'inferior' (ie non-human) troops.

After two years with this scouting unit, something happened that would once again change my life.

We were in Northern Reaper's March pursuing band of bandits that had been preying on travelers and caravans. We eventually caught up to them and, after a running battle, succeeded in defeating them.

We located their hideout. They had taken over a small khajiit village and had effectively enslaved its inhabitants.

Our Captain ordered that the village be put to the torch and its inhabitants crucified for "Giving aid, comfort and shelter to anyone who would dare harm good upstanding Imperials."

When SugarLicker protested, saying that the villagers were innocent victims, the captain struck him down and, turning to the rest of us, said "Any disloyal Beast who sympathizes with the enemy will meet the same fate."

I'm not sure who acted first, but I like to think it was me...As one, the 'inferior' troops rose up and put our Imperial 'betters' to the sword.

Looking down at my blade wet with Imperial blood, I knew that that chapter of my life was over.

Recent History

After my 'treason', I knew that I could not return to Imperial held lands.

I returned to Valenwood and put my military experience to good use by hiring myself out to various craftsmen as a supplier of materials, both mundane and exotic. During this time, I learned more about the Dominion, and, liking what I learned, pledged loyalty to the Dominion and Queen Ayrenn.

I soon build up a small nest-egg and decided to go into business for myself as a Crafter and Merchant.

From Orphan to Thief to Soldier to Traitor to Merchant. Truly, Azura has worked her Magiks of Change upon my life.
