STORYLINE: The Ruby of Frostfall

October Frostfall kicks off with a new storyline, with the Malevolent Skooma Clan imprisoned and tied into a nice, neat little bow.

During the last event, the Clan all volunteered to clear the moon sugar fields of weeds and overgrown crops in preparation for a new planting. However, the fields yielded more than just weeds - Kade, Krynger, and Geargo unearthed an old, weathered chest in the fields to the west of the Clanhouse. Korvos falcon kicked opened the chest to reveal a gristly treasure: a khajiit skeleton clutching a puzzle box. The skeleton was bare and dry, but its position suggested a terrifying end - the poor soul was buried alive.

Inside the broken puzzle box was the real treasure - a valuable, spherical star ruby, which was handed over to Peridota to study. The ruby rests safely in Kade's office, but since horror movies do not yet exist in Tamriel, the people of S'ren-ja probably have no idea that unearthing old rubies clutched by skeletons in footlockers usually means...

Oh! Oh! Is Kade gonna be possessed?

Would Kade like to be possessed? Because I can make that happen.

I blame skooma.

Have him become possessed and either have one of two things possibly happen. Hehe.

1. He becomes a complete dick and arrests/fines EVERYONE for every little thing.
2. He loses his mind, speaks gibberish and follows someone around like a lost puppy.

It'd be interesting to see! Give it a good point to see Kade get taken over by something evil xD Who knows! I'll leave it up to you pheonie. :D I have no qualms with seeing characters get beaten up or something for the sake of a fun plot and development :D

Event 1: Sugar Ghost

The first shipment of moon sugar saplings has arrived! It's time to distribute and plant them, and everyone will take up a baby sugar cane and head to the fields.

But when everyone arrives, there's something wrong -- an unfamiliar khajiit is working in the fields, around the same spot where the chest was dug up. She is dressed in white and is appears to be looking for something.

People are to question her and ask who in Oblivion she is, why she's messing around in the fields with a rake, if she wants a job, if she wants to talk to the Clanmother...

But she seems to be in a fog. Perhaps she's just crazy? She's asking about someone, a sweetheart, a friend?

And then she vanishes, a ghost in the wind.

A ghost has been unleashed on S'ren-ja, but what does it have in store for the town? It appeared harmless enough. Why is she here? What does she want? A new mystery awaits the people of S'ren-ja.

Mo'jahi Ice-Eye would like to come in contact with said gem. Due to his years of tomb raiding and what not he would be interested in seeing it and I would have having it haunt him in some way. xD He is supposed to be half mad and this would help to emphasize that aspect.

Whee! Yay, we can have a mini event where everyone gets to look at the gem and decide what to do with it. The lawful course of action would be to dive into research regarding the ruby's original owners, the previous clan that lived in S'ren-ja before the Sugar Claws and Co. moved in, and attempt to figure out who it rightfully belongs to now.

Of course, the more chaotic characters might be inclined to swipe the ruby and fence it, because hey, shiny. However, I am going to discourage stealing the ruby for now - it's being held in the guardhouse, which is under constant supervision by both player guards and our lovely invisible NPC guards. All major crimes such as stealing certain cursed gemstones must be okay'ed with a role-play officer, anyway, so no stealing the ruby just yet.

Peri has been the first to touch the ruby. I also know Kade has touched it, and I believe Battlecat and Geargo have also passed the ruby around -- correct me if I'm wrong.

Ser Battlecat has never touched the ruby nor the puzzle box, hes superstitious about such things and asked kade to leave the dead and their baubles to rest

Arisel has looked at it, but never picked it up. She could sense something evil radiating from it and wouldn't go near it.

Gnarlus would pick it up should he ever get the chance to but he hasn't even heard of it yet.

Gata was being rebel in the outskirts of town when that happened, but if there is a ghost, she can see it.

Might Gnarlus be able to touch the gem. I spent a good portion of yesterday trying to overhear about the stone, without success.

Kade keeps the stone locked up in his office inside a concealed safe. Both it and the Box as its safer that way. He's been handling the box and the stone a bit in there though, examining them and the like. He's thinking of getting them investigated.

Also, I won't be here for Saturday's event maybe.

Monday's Event: Thrill Me, Chill Me!

A ghost roams the sugar fields! (But no one has died yet, so perhaps S'ren-ja's track record is improving?)

A formal discussion on the subject of the ghost has been called at the Greedy Gobblet, and whether action should be taken. The ghost seems harmless enough, but like most ghosts, the power of the unknown looms overhead. Will it become more violent? Will it go away if it gets what it wants? What does it want, besides the tiny hints it gave during the planting - it was searching for someone named Romari. Who is Romari, and where are they now? Are they dead or alive? Did he kill the person the ghost was in life, Ji'Akari?

As the discussion slowly breaks down, talk of horror stories begins to envelop the atmosphere. Speculation on what happened to the ghost in life sparks a little contest of sorts:

ESO-themed Two-Sentence Horror Stories!

The rules of the contest are simple: Any player present at the event may participate. I will be indicating whose turn it is to tell stories, and I will also be posting the stories to this thread! After the event, I will put up a poll in Events and Contests for everyone to participate in to decide the best Two-Sentence Horror story. Everyone present may submit exactly ONE horror story, and it must be told around the "campire" setting in the Greedy Gobblet.

The story must be exactly two sentences in length, and excessively long sentences with like, fifteen commas are not permitted. For examples and ideas, go to the original Reddit posts here! All stories must be original, and should have an Elder Scrolls theme.

The winner will be decided on the forum poll for a prize of 20,000 gold!
