What is, in your opinion, a fitting punishment for murder?

Give your suggestions, I can add more things to the poll but EXECUTION is not an option unless the player specifically express the desire of being dead.

You have 7 days.

Murder is a severe crime, endentured servitude and Fine is nothing. It is a severe offence and deserves a severe punishment. However I reckon for variety with circumstances to fit within the guideline. Hard Labor, Banishment and/or Flogging (With consent naturally)

To me Endentured seritude would cover something like thievery, to the person you stole the big expensive item from.

I like banishment because it provides a repercussion for the player. They in turn should have their character be more hesitant to act violently within the village limits.

My point exactly its the only one that really has an impact as there charter would then be removed completely which as you said will hopefully make some one more hesitant

(Sorry if I can't comment here I couldn't tell so I though I leave my feed back is all)

Only if they earn their way back in and should at least meet some minimum requirements before being allowed back inside the town. That should be fair. Cause otherwise it'd be like 'Haha! I commit murder! In a month or two I'll be allowed back in and nobody will care! A Holiday!" ... That'd be inefficient and less of a deterrent.

I wish I could vote for more than one as a combination of several of these could also work. However I voted Banishment as in general it would be the most appropriate. Just to give feedback Ill mention what I think of them all.

Flogging (OOC consent) - In my opinion flogging a good punishment for bigger crimes however to make it the only punishment for a first degree murder would have to mean alot of flogging, almost unto death in my opinion as the only punishment. Flogging can however be used in a combination with other punishments.

Fine (Donation to guild) - This one is not appropriate for murder in my opinion, a bit too easy on the murderer IC in my opinion. Use maybe in a conjunction with other punishments for a non first degree murder/accidental killing. It is more fitting for lighter crimes so instead of staying in jail for a couple days pay a fine.

Public stocks/small cage - This punishment is fitting for when we want a char to be completely demoralized and publicly humiliated (reaction depends on char in the stocks). More fitting for lesser crimes and doesn't make much sense for first degree murder.

Banishment - This punishment fits especially for chars that repeated major crimes like murders. (Of course this does not mean your char is gone forever, you can find ways to become unbanished or what not). Also this punishment can either be banishment from the clan or from the town. From town is obviously more harsh. This punishment would be fit for first degree murder in itself.

Hard Labour in the mines - This punishment can also work in major crimes however the time would have to be quite long for murder. Something like the silver mines in Markarth in Skyrim could work. For first degree murder this can be worked in as a combo with a bit of Flogging (OOC consent) to decrease the time. For murder the time should be years so we would have to find a way to change the punishment a bit so the char is not stuck in the mines all their life.

Endentured Servitude - This is similar to the hard labour. However it depends how we do this. If it is basically accepted slavery of a criminal for a long time period it could work as punishment for murder. This would still allow the char to be around S'ren-ja, he would just be basically a slave to someone for a long while. If it is more just being a servant and helping for a time, this is not fit for murder and would be for minor punishments.

This is just my opinion on all the punishments and you can take from it what you will. Hopefully this helps somewhat.

I'm personally caught between banishment (temporary but having to earn the right to be let back into town), hard labor, or indentured servitude. Then possibly flogging as a way to get out of any one of these three punishments, like an alternative, that way OOC the person has to consent.

So for example, say I commit a murder and I'm banished or something. Along with the declaration of my banishment, whoever tells me also has to say that if I don't want to be banished, I have the option to be flogged instead. And then I can chose to pick flogging or banishment. Something like that?

I sugest this:

Muder, torturing, slavery,: fine + banishment for a month or two, with the option of flogging + a bigger fine to reduce the banishing for a week time.
Attempt of murder And high treason: hard labor for a month + fine And a month in the stocks/cage (or less time idc)
Assault: fine + hard labor for a week or two
Robbery: fine + servitude for a week or two to the person They tried to steal from OR fine+ hard labor

Feral vampires And wws that atttack others should be punished for atempt of murder, if They Kill people then murder punishment, but They shouldnt be more punished than the others, seriously, no witch hunts.

Self defence cases: if the person can prove it, They walk free, if not, They go to jail for a week And we perform a judgement for them, decidindo then the punishment if there will be any

Murder self defence cases should do hard labor for a week or a couple of days or pay a fine.

Guards that commit crimes will be punished accordingly to their crimes+ they will have their guard status revoqued, since they are the guard and the guard cant be criminal.
If the guard acts in self defense, they'll have to pay a fine and that will be all.

The banishment will be temporary, that iş a rule, we cant go around telling people They cant sit with us, specially when our guild's motto ia "we have room for all". There will be no permanent banishing unless the player expresses their desire or they kill arisel.
Because we don't wanna punish people for playing the way They want, we just want them to stop the crime rate in sren

I like it.
My only input is perhaps for Robbery, it is either fine and servitude OR fine and hard labor. I feel as though both hard labor and servitude in addition to the fine is a bit excessive.

I rather like banishment for that reason, I would imagine for something as severe as murder, a combination of flogging and banishment would be just.

I dont really like the idea of banishment being temporary at the start of a sentence. We can always find a way to get the char back into SJ but temporary banishment is not really banishment at all. I do realize what you mean gata and I see that it could cause issues however this is punishment is for extreme crimes. Also when the violence dims to lesser levels the punishment should be very rare which would make it easier to find a way for the char to make it back.

Also we could consider banishment from the clan (if the char is part) instead of SJ in some circumstances. My own char was banished from the company due to killing months ago (hence why Ansaari took to calling me banished one) and stayed that way till he was unbanished at Ri'sari's hands on the day of the Thalmor attack.

In my opinion we can say that the char is banished temporarily OOC, but IC they would be banished totally till we rp them back in. (This can happen as fast as we want)

What happened to the post I made in the officer forum detailing the Punishments and crimes in their catagories? I can put it here and everyone can look at it.

I transferred it to the officers forum.
Or at least it was supposed to have been.

I think banishment should be held as a thing where it's half the player's decision. It would be a little weird to be exiled from RP. I also think that if someone were to be banished whether they like it or not would be a little unpleasing. Yet it would make sense if they did something very harmful to the town, but should roll on it or discuss it OOC.

I dunno, personally I think it would make our characters think twice about doing things out in the open. It's not like if a guard catches you murdering someone in the street, you can just talk your way out of it. IC it makes complete sense. I understand what you mean, that OOC it might displease people, but this will make them think twice about their illegal actions, like doing them more sneakily :P haha.

my question is, say someone kills someone in the street, the person is wearing a mask. A guard catches them, and tells them to stop. They are wearing a mask so we can't tell who they are, can't they just run and evade arrest? If that were the case, in my opinion, we would need to set some kinda rules for a chase.

This iş why there has to be an officer there, because the officer should roll a dice for the action And see if They can or cannot get away

And these would be for the town limits, if you wanna drag someone outta town And Kill them (with ooc consent) you can do it And will not be arrested for it.
