The city of S'ren-ja has a lot of residents, and their lives are tempered by the hardships of being so close to cirondiil and the beautiful sandy landscape, they're building a diverse Dominion independant self sustaining community.
The fields are ready to receive the crops, the buildings were repaired, some soldiers have been camping outside town, the vampires started to organize themselves and the wolfs are finding each other.

So, we've had some issues and a few people left.Inlight of that We'd like to move the guild to another direction IC.
We propose the guild IC to be taken into a more descentralized path. Instead of being ruled by a khajiiti clan, we'd want to see a council, formed by the head of the main communities of S'ren-ja. We'd like to hear your ideas about it, and if you have other paths, please present them. If you want.
Here is our idea of communities to form or that might already exist.

  • GUARDS
  • FARMERS
  • SOLDIERS
  • VAMPIRES**
  • WEREWOLFS**
  • EXPLORERS
  • MAGES/HEALERS
  • MERCHANTS
  • MERCENARIES/SELL-SWORDS

** ** Supernatural creatures will have their leaders in the council, but to outsiders, they'd present themselves as having other jobs. Like head of the jannitors, or something else, but it has to be a job that most common folk wouldn't wanna participate, or maybe a job really hard to get.

I have a question — what is the difference between the Soldiers and Guards?

Also, could we possibly add a Sellsword/Mercenary group, or some form of assassin group?

The soldiers would be the dominion people, going to war, or coming from it. S'ren-ja is a town in the way to cirondiil, so maybe they made an outpost just outside town?

I wouldn't want to see the complete erasure of the Clan. Maybe it could be like a constitutional monarchy, with the Clanmother being there and the town guard being under her as a technicality, but with the real power resting in, er, unofficial officials whom the town accepts as knowing what is going on.

That is true, we discussed the clan mother and town leaders structure still being there, but given soldiers and merchants coming in and out of town, it would turn to a council between these groups. We still need to shake it out, but something like the clan mother, the head soldier, and Mages or merchants leaders on top (an odd number to break vote ties), and then some of the others like the captain of the guard, mercenaries, farmers, etc. being representative council. We don't want too many on top, but there should be clear leaders for the community and support for that. This also gives wider opportunity for non-Khajiit to raise to important roles in the community.

I have no preference between having the clan and not having the clan. As a Bosmer, I never felt like the clan effected me in any way or did I feel any attachment to its structure. I will say though, Arisel technically owns the Sugar Claw Clan as it's her own intellectual property, so as we said in the meeting yesterday, we'd have to come up with an entirely new clan.

I am in favor of the new story line. I am working on a character who would make a great soldier (or maybe a sell-sword) who could be available to all Guild members for:

Watching your back
Questing companion, both regular and Vet
Help with bosses
Grinding

I'm thinking that on role playing nights my players would be available to help members or a member could call upon my player anytime I'm online and I will quite what I am doing and come straight to you.

More on this later.

I don't know about it being intelectual property, but I would like to avoid more problems, And i actually did not like the ic structure before, i felt it didnt give spaçe to characters that are not khajiit, And that was kinda sad, also it seemed to me that you had to be part of a specific clique to be accepted, which isnt exactly ideal if we gonna have new members And all.

Although having another clan, I think it iş a good idea, maybe, if we do it right And not centralize the ic Spotlight on said clan

Completely agree. That way the Khajiit still have a clan to be in, but people who are not Khajiit don't feel ostracized from the clan.

they said that a group of sugar claw splintered off to my understanding, not the full clan. I mean IF they did drag the full Sugar Claw clan anyways, wouldn't that be unfair to those that stayed in BSR to automatically be expected to uproot? Personally I like the idea of new factions coming up and taking charge of the city, but wouldn't want to get rid of Sugar Claw completely. I mean even if the members that left were the ones that came up with it, they did so as officers of Blue Skooma, to incorporate it into the GUILD story. I just think it would be unfair to those left behind, to tell them they aren't members of the clan anymore, if they want to choose new leadership they should be able to do so.

Good point there!
But what about problems that using someone else's intelectual property may cause? Is it really a thing? Should we worry about it?

Also, just had this thought: What if the reminding members of the scc were to decide to change the ic name? Icly i mean. That would be cool too.

Elridge has a point, but I really don't feel comfortable taking someone's ideas. None of us came up with the clan. Arisel did. It would wrong of us to use it without her consent.

I like Gata's idea of the remaining clan gathering and changing the name IC since we could say, IC, that the majority of the SCC left. The other guild's IC story is that Arisel, being the spiritual leader as the CM, feared for their safety with the ruby and it possibly being cursed. So she guided those that wanted to leave out of Sren'ja. We could possibly use that as cannon. I can ask OOC Arisel if anyone wants her consent to use that.

I'm not too sure, in my opinion, if anything the clan was formed as intellectual property to the guild, not any one person. One person may have come up with the idea, but as I said, they did so as an officer of Blue Skooma, and by bringing their idea into a main part of the guild story/guild culture, I don't think anyone should have an issue with it.

Say I make "Wullfrend Pack" a pack of werewolves, and I use it for my personal RP story, that is mine. However I decide to bring it into the guild story, and make it a key part of the guild story, it's no longer JUST mine... it's everyone's. I can't/won't just decide one day that I'm leaving and you guys can't use my idea anymore, even though it's been incorporated into many of your stories.

edit: I'm not saying continue on using the ruby story or anything, but just that if there are remaining SCC members, if they so choose I don't think we should take their right of continuing a different chapter of the clan.

I wouldn't feel confortable using any of their ideas, even if they gave permission. Specially the Ruby and all of those storylines that no one knows the details and all.
But if we really wanna do it, then we should get their written permission, from arisel And phoenix, as the Ruby was entirelly phoenix idea, it did not involve anyone else in the creating process, so we'd really need to get a written one if we gonna use it. And i honestly think we should avoid that the best we can.

Also, we are not the same guild as them, só wouldn't it be confusing to have the same institution in two completely different guilds?

These are just thoughts

Ehh. I disagree. I know if I came up with something and chose to leave, especially with the way things ended, I'd want to take all of my ideas away so that I can use them later. I wouldn't mind consenting to leaving a few, but if want most of my ideas to come with me.

Also their new guild is literally called the Sugar Claw Clan (and yes I am a part of it), which makes me really not want to keep that name so we don't step on them at all.

I get what you mean, I'm a member on the website, I think? I guess it really doesn't matter unless people actually want to continue using the name anyways.

Personally I don't care, I was admitted into the clan by accidentally being at the right place at the wrong time hahaha, I asked a couple questions, was handed gear and told to go sit down with the others xD

I just didn't want to take it away from any of the members who have been in the clan and possibly cared about it for longer then I. Sounds a little messed up to me to say "this is mine you can't have it anymore"(Im not saying anyone actually did that, just if it came to that) lol

Dont think we should be continuing with using Sugar Claw Clan, like Elysnia said the major people split away and are now doing their own thing, saying the Clan left SJ (reason doesnt really matter). We could just start another clan or have it that the remaining Khajiit in SJ created their own clan.
ElridgeOct 18, 2014

True enough, guess we should just scrap the SCC. With the new factions idea, we should have more then enough for people to do and be apart of

I think it would be cool to have a clan if the town wouldn't be ran by said clan. I think S'ren-ja being so close to Ciirondil makes it so we can have a less khajiiti type structure just fine and it could be interesting lorewise.

But I wanna hear the members input, though

I was thinking, if we could have the wws cover be the farmer community....
Don't know for the vamps though. I would have said them, but they get unconfortable in the sun...
The vampires could run the clinic/hospital And be deemed as healers lol. They could give their blood to the patients And get theirs in return lololol

Just ideas, please give me your thoughts

Nothing stopping vampires from joining the mages, but I think the point was having them be members of something that seemed mundane and not very important, yet everyone answers to them.
@rainhaOct 19, 2014
Oct 19, 2014 at 10:01 PM #36
Vamps and Wolfs can have the job they want, basically, but their leaders should take the leadership of one of the less popular factions in the town as to justify to outsiders their parts on the council.
To be a more iluminati type of thing.

Do we want to form something on the classified or character sheet forums? It seems like we needid at least a military commander a new town leader (not sure we'd call them clan mother since technically she left the town and exists elsewhere), a leader for the mages, and merchants? We have one for the guard already, and the supernatural council should be secondary to getting the town in "working" order

Storyline Discussion: Dont read if you dont want storyline spoilers
I still have Dro'Jhala who in the story so far is the clanmother of S'ren-ja. If we want we can change it at any time but until then Dro'Jhala could be the one to help maybe create the council and then be the administrative 'leader' of it. Ultimately the Roleplay Leader would be the one to create stories with the help of the rp officers, but until we have that position filled again we need to keep the roleplay going.

An event we should have sometime soon (doesnt have to be today) is one that ends the old storyline and starts the new. What I mean with that is the citizens of SJ are called forth and an announcement is made by _____ (Could be Dro'Jhala if we wanted to, or another important person) that the Sugar Claw Clan has left SJ (we dont need to name a reason) (Dro'Jhala would say she knew it all along, She was always worried about the situation and that they would only be a temporary thing in SJ.. but now I went off topic so back to that). Then _____ could call upon the people of SJ to create a council to rule the town and that council be made up of the leader of the factions present (since most of them do not exist already we could say that each faction should decide upon a leader and figure things out or something since we would need reliable ppl to fill the IC roles). Thats pretty much the whole event, we could have the factions present and recruiting at the end if we wanted too to get ppl to join them.

I feel we need some event along the lines of what I said above because this would clear up the confusion with the leaving of SCC and then officially make it canon on our side of things while introducing the new concept we have been working on sort of behind the scenes.
