The fateful day of Mo'jahi Ice-Eye

Chapter 1: Departure.

His eyes opened and he saw the sunlight streaming through the dark mahogany shaded curtains. Stupid cat, you slept through half the day. Standing up, he stretched his body, getting ready for the upcoming task. Looking back at ruffled blankets on both sides of the bed, Mo'jahi realized that S'aiha, the courtesan with whom he had a small on and off affair, had already left. She worked early to allow herself to not have to work each night. A sigh echoed about the barely furnished yet cozy room. Another moment or two with her would have been good but alas, the sun is high and there is yet much to do on this day.

It took a couple minutes to collect all of his things and collect his clothes from all the various places where they ended up after the night with S'aiha. Mo'jahi then left the room and headed for the tavern to get a quick meal. Little did he know that this would be the last time meeting S'aiha for five long years. Opening the half rusted handle of the old oaked tavern door, Mo'jahi was hit with a strong stench of foods in various states of rotting. This was Dro'bach's place, one which Mo'jahi frequented for several years now and he had become great friends with the owner. Dro'bach was an elderly Kathay-Raht who had spent his younger days roaming with one of the few caravans going about Orcinium. He was a hardy Khajiit with large burly arms, a sight rare in Elsweyr.

“Greetings, Bach. This one will take a quick meal. Have you gotten all the supplies prepared.” Mo'jahi asked hurriedly, wanting to leave as soon as he could.

“No rush, no rush Jahi. You cubs always run about like theres no time in the day. Dro'bach has it all ready out back.”

“It's just, that the day is already.....”

“Yes, yes. With S'aiha again last night no doubt.” Mo'jahi blushed a bit at the mention of the courtesan. “Here Jahi, today's meal is the finest deer meat in all of Grahtwood, well spiced and diced into soup with some potatoes and...” said Dro'bach while he was dishing out a murky brown slop into a bowl and handing it over.

“Whatever you say Bach, its all the same anyways. Your cooking skills could need some work.”

“Hmm, too busy. There's always stuff that needs doin. You can't rely on anyone but yourself to run this place. The cubs Dro'bach pays never quite do their job.”

“Ah, the normal excuse again Bach. Anyways once this one gets back he'll make sure you get your lesson. Heck, it will improve the quality of this garbage dump.” Mo'jahi said jokingly.

“What you call Bach's tavern. A prince could eat of the floor here.” Dro'bach exclaimed.

Mo'jahi raised in hands defensively. “This one must be off. See you around Back, Mo'jahi shouldn't be too long. Expect this one is a month or two.” He throws a couple coins on the counter and turns to leave.

“Goodbye Jahi, this one will miss you. With whom else is he supposed to talk. Most of the cubs here have no sense of humor and dogs have a larger brain than them.”

Mo'jahi chuckled. “This one will miss you too.” He then proceeded to walk to the back of the tavern, finding the supplies Dro'bach had said would be there. Picking up the bags, he walked to the stable of the town. It had no name and was rather small, however a decent number of quality horses could be found as Mo'jahi had been satisfied the last few times he bought a horse here. He paid the usual price of four gold and picked out a robust and relatively fast looking horse, one with whom he could cover the distance that was needed. The ruin he had found was quite aways from the town and did not have roads leading close. It was in an uninhabited part of North-Eastern Valenwood and Mo'jahi believed it to have never been explored. He was looking forward to it and looking to see the treasures that could be found. Although he didn't really care about their monetary worth, the thrill of the adventure and the lust for knowing the unexplored led Mo'jahi to these ruins, ancient temples and tombs again and again.
