Misc:
Fatal has a certain affinity for nature. Sometimes strange things happen. One time being, when she was on the farm, a sickly pregnant cow struggled to give birth to a still born , or so thought, calf. Her father, needed an extra set of hands, asked that she come along since her mother was pregnant with her sister at the time and her brothers were off fighting for the alliance. They struggled to restrain the sick cow and nearly got hurt in the process. After the calf was birthed her father assessed the situation and asked her to take the unmoving calf into the woods to feed the scavengers while he dealt with the cow. Approaching the poor lifeless looking calf, Fatal prayed that it was just stunned from the trial of being born. Not seeing any movement or breathing, she gently wrapped it in an old blanket and carried it out into the woods. While searching for the right spot to lay the poor thing to rest she thought she felt it move slightly. Setting the bundle down she gently unwrapped it. Something warm touched her shoulder gently, she looked up. There before her was a large buck with a rack of antlers that would make even the most skilled hunter drool. Without pause the deer pressed its nose to the calf's lifeless nose and held it there. Within a moment the calf's body shivered and began to move. The deer looked one more time at her and with a slight nod of its head bounded off further into the woods. Once she could no longer see the odd deer she turned her attention to the little calf. Her eyes widened when she saw that calf's chest was moving slightly with each little breath it took. The calf was alive! She rubbed the calf clean and dry as she could with the blanket and encouraged it to move. It took what felt like forever, but she managed to get the calf up and moving back home towards the farm. When her father saw her return with the now living calf he nearly had a heart attack. Her family always tells this story around the calving season and sometimes while tending the farm her sister says she has seen the shadow of the great deer in the woods, but that it is gone before any of them can approach or see it properly.

((I will add other stories as they pop up, but I really should tell you about her birth since I said I would))

Niamh approached Fatal Rose on the night her father died, not to frighten her daughter with what could have happened when she was born, but to comfort her and teach her that though the gods may take a life, they also can give life.
"Little Siri," her mother cooed holding her tightly and stroking her long locks. "How much sadness you have seen today. I know papa fought to stay with us just a little longer, but the gods have called him."
Siri did not reply. She snuggled into her mother further sobbing for all she was worth. Outside thunder crashed as if the gods themselves were angry at this loss. The animals were restless in their enclosures, sensing death nearby. For a time her mother held her in silence so thick they could hear the faint howl of wolves in the distance as the storm moved on.
"Siri, my little miracle. Do not hate the gods for taking him from us." her mother sensed her growing resentment and anger at the situation.
"The gods may take from us, but they also give. There was a time I cursed them for all eternity. Do you know why?" Niamh asked, stroking her daughter's hair and holding her close.
She glanced over at a small cradle on the other side of the room. Cooing filled the room and a small foot and hand could be seen wiggling.
" Because the gods are cruel and heartless?" Young Siri asked looking up at Niamh with a frown.
"No, I cursed them because they tried to take what was most precious from me. Do you remember what Papa told you about your birth?" Niamh asked rising from the side of Talywn's death bed she went to scoop up Siri's infant sister.
"Papa said I should have died. He said you should have died too, but that the gods were scared of what he would do to them if they took us." Siri offered to hold her sister.
" That's right, Siri! He would have taken on the gods for all of us. I mean how you were born silly!" She bounced the babe on her hip as she crossed the room. "I was feeling sore after tending the red wheat field and I knew if I could just take a dip in the warm springs I'd feel so much better. After telling papa I'd be back i set off. It was the best soak I had ever had. ah, just remembering how i relaxed and the pain just seemed to flow away, just like our lives were trying to. I remember lookind into the water and seeing the blood.. so much blood..." she went quiet with reflection. "Siri, there was so much that i knew i wouldn't make it through giving birth to you. I cried, I cursed, I raged!! The Gods were cruel to do this!!! I remember getting out of the springs on my own. I barely made it to the blanket i had set in the sun to dry off later. I laid down. By then i was so tired. So tired i could have just let the gods take me if they would spare your life. I couldn't keep my eyes open. When I closed them i felt defeated. I waited for death's cold embrace. It never came. instead i heard and felt a presence. to this day i don't know if it was a god or someone passing through. They said nothing, but i felt good will in their presence. I knew they would help us. I remember feeling warmth like a thousand suns bloom over my swollen middle. I felt a release of pressure as you came into the world, and then I felt darkness."
The baby began to cry out in hunger angry that her meal was being delayed. With a motherly grin Niamh offered her milk. Siri played with the laces on the front of her simple dress. She hated when her mother breastfed her sister. it was yucky!
" I regained consciousness, but didn't open my eyes I was so weak. I felt your tiny body wrapped in my arms and a warm blanket upon us. who or whatever had helped give birth to you was gone. I knew you'd live when I heard your wail. It was the most beautiful thing I ever heard. Before i could open my eyes your father found us. He told me that He'd been searching for three days. I remember telling him that I was only gone a few hours surely, but he was right. He said he came to the springs, but saw no sign of me... us. He said he only came out on that third day to make damned sure no sign was left there that he didnt see."
Siri dried her wet cheeks and smiled patting her dead father's hand she placed a gentle good bye kiss on his cheek. Her mother focused on feeding her newborn sister didn't see her leave the room, and eventually the house. She had an idea just who might have saved both her and her mother.
