Amlvgion
(pronounced: AM-loog-i-on)
Quote: “We came upon the Ridgemen asleep in a field, and put every last one of them to the sword. Their screams could be heard for miles, as they awoke disemboweled and left exposed… Didn’t find out ‘till later, the war had been over for a month.”
Race: Dunmer (vampire)
Class: Nightblade
Appearance: Amlvgion bears scars from numerous battles, most noticeably those from burns over most of his body-- the result of an exploding trebuchet round, accidently set off by an incompetent artillery officer. That officer was later found skinned alive, shortly after Amlvgion's recovery.
Rumors: Though he knows it would be unwise to make it public, Amlvgion makes no secret from his friends and colleagues of his vampirism. This, in fact, would seem to be the least of his notoriety, given the whispered stories about him that circulate throughout the various military and mercenary units he has belonged to. He has always laughed off the tales involving cannibalism as being "greatly exaggerated."
Background: Amlvgion was born to a Dunmer merchant family, living in Riften. Though his father made a respectable living, he had no intention of working in the family counting house the rest of his life, and immediately signed on with his first mercenary unit when he came of age. His family would have disinherited him, had he shown any interest in ever returning home.
His first taste of battle came when his unit was contracted to exterminate bandits from the lands of the Jarl of Falkreath. The mercenaries were ambushed and several taken prisoner by the bandits, Amlvgion only narrowly escaping capture himself. Creating a diversion by starting a fire in the bandit camp, he snuck in to try and rescue those he could. He arrived too late, discovering only their mutilated corpses, their ears and noses having been cut off as a message to the Jarl. That message would never be delivered, for by the time the sun came up, every bandit in the camp was dead. The lucky ones died quickly. The not-so-lucky were found tortured and mutilated by the Jarl’s housecarl, who was so repulsed, he refused to pay for the job. The Jarl would later send his apologies, along with double the payment, when the housecarl was murdered in his home, chopped into bits upon his own dining room table. Implicit in the Jarl’s apology was that Amlvgion never work in Falkreath again.
And so it was for the next few hundred years. Nobles were always willing to pay good coin to eliminate bad people. When the Alliance War broke out, he chose to fight on the side of the Aldmeri Dominion, after being awarded a minor title by Queen Ayrenn for a putting a swift and bloody end to a Maomer insurrection. He quickly embraced his new nation, even going so far as to assume his current Altmer name.
Amlvgion had to face the fact he was aging, however, and he could not stand the thought of having to retire in the middle of the biggest war in the history of Tamriel. The obvious solution presented itself one day in Reaper’s March, when he received an invitation from Lady Lamae. He did not even hesitate to accept her gift, finally secure in the knowledge that old age would not finish him, when thousands of enemies were never able to.
