My favorite is the Nord. This probably strikes people as odd because why on earth am I now a Khajiit in the Aldmeri Dominion?
First, I really like the Nord because they represent / mimic / stylize a culture that enjoy in real life as well as other games. I really like Vikings and Skavanavian lore and culture. My first major game, which happens to be an MMO, was Dark Age of Camelot and I loved Midgard. I like the idea of larger/stronger race that enjoys beer. It is like Dwarves, but taller, stronger (debatable), smell better, and less beards. Who does not love a tall, strong, handsome man with an accent? I started playing TES series with Marrowind, then Oblivion, and then of course Skyrim. I loved Skyrim because it focused on my favorite race.
Which brings me to why I am not playing them. The fan base of Skyrim was so large that I stayed away from them in ESO because I did not want to be with all the kiddies. This maybe is not true now but it sure was at headstart. I did actually play this game in beta but I was very pregnant. I gave birth March 27 and my head start was March 31st. Needless to say although I have always had an active account, I did not come back to really start playing until a couple weeks ago as my daughter is finally old enough that I don’t have to give her insane amounts of attention. She enjoys playing on her own in the office while I am on the computer. I feel like it is a different game than it was back at launch, a more polish game but still has TES feel I love and the great MMO feel I enjoy with socializing and being apart of a group.
So why am I a Khajiit since I could have been Nord because I do have the Imperial addition; any race any faction,? It did not seem believable to have a Nord side with AD. Top this off, I dislike the elves. All of them! So why AD when there are two elf races? Well truthfully; Razum-dar is hot, and he has a sexy voice. I would not think that I could find a beast race attractive, but hell, if I was I cat, I would have his kittens any day. He totally makes me think of the Faceless Man in the Game of Thrones, Jaqen H’ghar. So there you have it, I am a sucker for an accent, uniform, and a strong jaw line.
And a side note, I am warming up to the Bosmer, but the Altmer… no dice.
