Why you play ESO

Hello again, it's this guy.

Since apparently my last thread went so well for some reason, I'd like to continue with little questions to get to know you guys better. This time the question is: how did you get into TESO? If the Elder Scrolls series lead you to it, then explain how you got into the Elder Scrolls series as well. Like last time I'll give an example: I got into TESO because I was a HUGE fan of skyrim, and decided to learn more about the series' history and lore (which sort of explains a like of roleplaying), but I also loved Star Wars the Old Republic before it fell south. That combination of MMO and Elder Scrolls lore made TESO a no brain buy.

It was my fate, my destiny. I was born to play ESO.

That was the really short story. Now for the somewhat longer version. Shortly after the release of Skyrim, me and my brother heard about the game, watched a couple youtube videos and got it shortly thereafter. We both played hours and hours of the game and enjoyed in a lot and have since played a bit of Oblivion as well. Both of us were interested in the lore so we found the ShoddyCast and watched most of their lore videos. From them I ended up watching their weekly videos on ESO and wanted to play the game. When the game launched I bought it and started to play. And yeah, ended up in this guild within a week or so of starting to play. Saw an advertisement, thought sounds interesting and blam. The rest is history.

I loved the Elder Scrolls games; from Morrowind to Skyrim I played the games so much, perhaps too much. I was told by one of my friends that a new ES game was going to be released. I was extremely eager to watch and learn everything about it. By the time beta was still up I was having a blast playing. When I grabbed some money I punched in everything, and bam, I had a new account. Sadly, I had to wait for it to download, which just made me grow more eager. And this is where the anti-climatic event happens, the game is LITTERALLY at 99% and I went on another game. I even had the thought of was about to happen, I throught it would be funny if something happened as the game was on the verge of finishing. And yes, my game froze my whole computer and I had to unplug it. So yeah, I had to restart the download. After it was done I got on, leveled a bit, and saw Ri'Sari advertising the guild. I joined soon after, the first day I got the game and was hooked on roleplay ever since. But to my most honest word, it's a good game to roleplay on, I have no care for leveling anymore, well, a little... :)

I always wanted to play an Elder Scrolls game... And I don't have the platforms for skyrim, the game that drew me in. I'd watch my friends and my ex boyfriend play it and I'd be all amazed by it. I almost bought an xbox when I heard there would be an online versions. One of my other friends was invited to the Beta and they let me play it for like 30min. I loved it. So when my mom was going to travel to USA I asked her to bring me one. She went and found a pre-order and got me an explorer pack <3 She was so cute she even got me controlers, but I just dont know how to use them for ESO lol.
At first I didn't like it that much, but then I started leveling up and the game was getting more and more fun

i was in junior high school 7th grade i remember and christmas was around the corner. my best friend matthew invited me to his house and said "i have this amazing game that youve got to try man!" intregied i took him up on his offer and spent the weekend at his house. that night he came in the room with a ps3 case that had brown as the main backdrop and a name carved in rock "oblivion" he poped it in and handed me the controller needless to say the game started up in the talos district a sword was drawn and within 5 minutes i had killed a lot of people.....ok take 2! about take 37 i took the game seriously and just fell in love. i requested it for xbox 360 for christmas and ended up getting the goty it was amazing. from there i found the fallout series and man am i glad these are my two favorite lore and game series that bethasda makes. i discovered eso one day when browsing youtube for epic battles of skyrim found a video of beta of them fighting for a keep and said to myself "thats what i wanna do kill and play elder scrolls with friends!" from there the wait was on. console release was looking promising then disaster stuck and the delay was put out sad i found out if u get it on pc u can transfer and i got the pc version and loved it ever since kinda given up on pvp for the moment but ran into the BSR and tried joining on numerous ads. luckily one night afer picked me up at an auction and here we are!

I got into TESO because of the Elder Scrolls Series, I have been playing since Morrowind. At first I didn't think much of Morrowind, the combat frustrated me (I was 11 at the time) but the world intrigued me and made me want to get better at the game. I played for so long, I even made a small composition book, filled with writings of what I did, where I found interesting things, alchemy potions, ingredients and where to find them.

As those that played Morrowind knew, this was a much harder game then it is today. There were no quest markers, only your in game journal and vague directions such as "head east at the rocks shaped like teeth, then north into the mouth of the mountain". If there was a ring to be found somewhere in a house, you actually had to search the entire house rather then look for the waypoint. One of the more frustrating ones I remember, but still love, was a quest where I had to search for a small ring in a lake. It was because it was so damn irritating and hard, that made me feel so accomplished after I finally found the ring. It was that reason I started writing my exploits in Morrowind, to help me remember things.

Years and years later Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion came out, I did the same thing, I bought myself a composition book and began to explore the land. Then Skyrim.. Then ESO combining my two favorite genres of gaming. I had loved MMOs before this, with about 10 years of experience in them.
