He was from a wealthy and successful family. His mother passed away when he was ten and his father when he was twenty, leaving him, the eldest of four brothers, as the head of his family. Things are expected of the head of an important family, things that Ra'Zakhar spent a good deal of time trying to ignore and avoid.
To Ra'Zakhar's good fortune, the second oldest brother, Jo'Athra (NPC) was something of a bookworm and had a knack for numbers and business. Jo'Athra is the reason the Vashad family farms and business have continued to thrive, for they surely would not have done so under Ra'Zakhar's direct supervision. Ra'Zakhar had no mind for math or numbers or business, but he did have a gift and a passion for fighting and combat. These passions brought Ra'Zakhar to join the Torval guard when he was sixteen years old.

He decided to join up with the Torval guard when he was sixteen years old. Through his hard work, and a bit of his family's influence, Ra'Zakhar rose quickly up the ranks to become an officer.
When Ra'Zakhar was twenty, his father was lost to illness as well, which left Ra'Zakhar as the head of the family. This is something Ra'Zakhar struggled with greatly for many years, and he did his best to raise his younger brothers on his own. Fortunately, his next younger brother Jo'Athra had a mind for numbers and business and took charge of running the family business while Ra'Zakhar did his best to raise the two youngest brothers Dar'Zhen and Kiarash, while still attending to his military duties.
By the time the war broke out in Cyrodiil, Ra'Zakhar was ready for a change. He took leave of his position in Torval, with his commander's blessing, so he could travel north to fight in the war. His youngest brother, Kiarash, accompanied him on the journey as well. Together, they found the Twin Tails Company in northern Elsweyr and signed up with them. They both spent several months with the Twin Tails, and it was here that Ra'Zakhar met up with Ayi'sara again. He had met her once before at a banquet put on by her parents, as they were trying to marry her to Ra'Zakhar. At the time, Ra'Zakhar was not prepared for marriage and nothing came of it. However, when he met her again at the Twin Tails camp, a romance began to blossom between them. After courting for several months, Ra'Zakhar received her parents' blessing and proposed and the two were married a short time later.
Not long after the two were married, Ayi'sara became pregnant with their first child. Ra'Zakhar and Ayi'sara left the Twin Tails camp to return home to Torval, feeling it would be much safer there.
