So my buddy just bought me this game for christmas, I had it about 10 years ago when it was released on the xbox. I was thinking about writing a journal of my exploits in Morrowind as "Do'Zan" a descendant of my character Ri'Zharim in ESO.
Though playing this game made me realize how much we have lost from Morrowind to Skyrim and it has made me a little sad, some of the things that use to be more immersive or challenging are now gone. Such as more in depth character conversations, NPCs getting mad at you based on your choices in guilds, or quests, then not doing business with you after taht, actually having to search around for the Thieves Guild and seedier parts of the world, rather then having them jump out right at you with giant quest markers. Riddles that would stump you for a few minutes, sometimes days, rather then...
*look at claw*
"k the pattern is bear. owl, dragon"
*input obvious code and door opens*
"yay I solved it"
The hardest part about those caves in Skyrim was the fact that some were in ruins and sometimes when they crumbled, the coded wall fell to the floor... They were more of a speed bump rather then an actual challenge
Did you know it use to be illegal to "wait" in the streets, or the fact that health had no auto regen, that talking to an NPC with an unsheathed weapon would anger them? Fast Travel was not an option, besides using a silt strider (this one I don't miss haha). That you could become infected with different sorts of vampirism depending on what clan bit you? Argonians and Khajiit use to not be able to wear boots. Alchemy use to require many different pieces of equipment to do, and they ALL had their own function on how good a potion came out.
We have gained alot since Morrowind too, like getting rid of that awful combat system and replacing it with a much more active combat, the ability to become a werewolf, the obvious upgrade to graphics but alot of other aspects have sadly been dumbed down :(
I love the series, but I really wish they would bring some of these features back into the game, and make the world more immersive and challenging.
