NOT ENTIRELY F2P. YOU STILL GOTTA PAY THE $60 INITIAL FOR THE GAME.

"The Elder Scrolls Online is dropping its subscription. Now, finally, it's confirmed: Bethesda Softworks has announced that the game's subscription will cease as of March, at which point it will be known as The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited.

Dedicated fans will have the option of ponying up for "ESO Plus" memberships. Available in 30, 90, and 180-day durations, these will offer access to all future DLC, which Bethesda said will consist of "game packs with optional adventure content," like zones and quests. Access to these optional areas will be lost if and when your membership expires, but any items or rewards earned from those areas will be kept.

ESO Plus memberships will also provide "character progression bonuses," and an allotment of crowns, the new in-game currency that will be used to purchase "convenience and customization items" like pets and mounts, as well as the aforementioned DLC, which will be available separately from ESO Plus memberships on an a-la-carte basis.

Current TESO subscriptions that extend beyond the changeover will be automatically transitioned to ESO Plus memberships, and TESO players who have previously cancelled their subscriptions can leap back into the subs-free action using their old account info (and will be given 500 complimentary crowns for doing so). Refunds on existing subscriptions will not be offered."

I feel like, I'm already paying a monthly sub, I might as well keep paying it as I expected to for all of the content they release.

I'm feeling similarly. Personally, I'm excited about the massive potential popularity boost in both the game, and if we play our cards right, the guild. More people playing, making Let's Plays, more art being released and other content, and a much larger online community. Of course, some things may bite back, but this definitely excites me.

Yes.
Dear Y'ffre, the influx of people...

ULTIMATE HORSE RAVE IN RAWL'KHA

Oh and of course, more RPers for us. c;

ALTHOUGH
With the influx of people now, and, inevitably, trolls, we're going to have to buckle down on our apps to make sure those who join the guild really want to be in it.

I like the fact it will get more popular.. but at the same time, it brings in alot of trolls, kids and just general undesirables from the gaming community which makes me sad and pretty damn scared. There will almost no doubt be microtransactions now, they had worked on a system for it before launch just in case, which also worries me

Edit: well I guess at least my IRL will come back now that it's going b2p.. lol

That being said though (sorry for the double post) if you want a bit more information on what is going on check out http://www.twitch.tv/zenimaxonlinestudios/v/3711373

GW2 did really good with B2P and their cash shop. Here's to hoping ZoS follows in their footsteps business model wise. Some of the current stuff they have going and showed on the twitch stream this morning actually looks really cool.

Idk, I guess how exactly it turns out will be seen when it goes to that state. As you still have to buy the game, I dont think people would just go play to 'troll' but of course the numbers will probably increase a bit. That being said, I do generally like the idea of the crown shop and we are going to be getting some free crowns at the beginning.

I am also hoping that most of the content will stay through updates not DLCs and that those are not expensive. I will most likely stay paying the sub (mine will run out soon and Ill prob renew it with a 3month) to check out what the ESO Plus thing actually gives, it could just be more stuff for those staying subbed.

I just hope not much of the community leaves just over it going B2P. (Its not F2P as you still need to buy the game to play)

One thing I will say is that it makes sense considering the consoles would not have done that well with a sub fee most likely.

Few games have tried to do subscription fees on the consoles... none of them worked lol. I feel the same, gonna have to wait til it's actually implemented to see how it goes. It might be great, it might be bad. It's still loads better then F2P. There's still a wall surrounding us to keep out a couple trolls.

As for our guild, It will help us I would think, a flow of new blood into the game. I wanna do some kinda campaign day where we meet people at the docks if we can :D

Ya, they stated on the stream that the transfers are still valid and to note that the "transfer" is a copy and paste, not a cut and paste haha
