hello all! :D

Mnidhexa (somethingruther) here.

I dunno about you guys, but I really like guild banks. They're awesome! A place to always have mats at the ready for whoever needs them. So when I found out we had a guild bank open to all members, I was so stoked to start using the bank.

However, I've run into a number of problems with the guild bank. ): And it's to the point that I don't want to use the bank at all.
For example, a few weeks back, I put in two stacks of void cloth and half a stack of columbine. When I went in to check on the bank and dump useful mats we were short on, I noticed that all the columbine and void cloth I'd put in was gone. Great that someone is using it and all, but... it's a bank. If I don't feel secure in knowing I can come back to that bank and know with reasonable certainty that my stuff will still be there, why would I put my stuff there? Knowing that my stuff will be completely gone isn't conducive to having a useful bank, because I'm just not going to put useful mats in the bank.

Also, there are tons of set pieces that aren't being used, molybdenum overflowing at the edges, and excess mats being left unstacked. So there's certainly lots to do that is left undone in the guild bank.

It would certainly be helpful to have a banker to keep tabs on all this, wouldn't it?

I know, we're all busy... and the officers are already swamped as it is. ): Personally, I really like running an awesome guild bank. I really like blue skooma--we have actions, raffles, a trader, in-guild role play, inter-guild role play, a website, teamspeak... holy cow, this is an amazing guild! I'm just sayin'--I really like running guild banks, and I'm wondering if it's possible to either run the bank, or talk with someone who runs the bank?

I am a member of two guilds that have amazingly run banks, one of which I am actually in charge of, the other has been in existence since launch and has an amazing guildmaster who also looks after the bank.

In my opinion, the ultimate goal of a guild bank is to always have enough mats for anyone to do what they need to do. You need to get some stuff for that writ? Sure, take it out of the bank. You need to craft some potions/food for your dungeon run? Go for it. If it's for you or a guildie, then it's helping the guild. There are totally ways to make this happen.

Rules my other guild follows that have worked really well:
deposit more than you withdraw
keep one full stack of all materials and two stacks of wood/metal/cloth. Anything excess can be taken out by anyone.
don't withdraw more than 25 of a provision/alchemy mat at a time; if there's fewer than 25, don't withdraw more than 3 (until what you took out is replaced by anyone).
if you withdraw more than 50 of a wood/metal/cloth, don't withdraw again until what you withdrew is replaced (again, doesn't even have to be you that replaces it, as long as someone does it)
not to take out more than half of tempers/tannins available (until what you took out is replaced by you or otherwise)
intricate materials can be taken out for decon as well as white/green glyphs at any time by anyone. Set pieces can be taken out after one week to sell. (again, a banker especially would be needed to keep track of this)

With someone keeping track that these rules are followed, I've had success in two different guilds, both with the same strong community that blue skooma has. There's always materials available for anyone who needs them.

There are totally other ways to run a guild bank! It -can- just be a place to put unwanted mats and anyone who wants them can take them out. I don't think this is the best way to run a bank; I prefer having lots of useful materials for anyone to use.
However, since I am not an officer, it's not up to me. These are merely my suggestions.

Thanks for reading (:

Hello

We do in fact have someone in charge of looking over bank. It is one of the respondsibilities of the commerce department which is currently only me. Its part of logging on each time that I quickly check the guild bank to see no one has withdrawn lots more than they put in. However the only rule we have currently regarding the guild bank is take about as much out as you put back it. Having more concrete rules is certainly something we can discuss but currently I am already busy enough with the other tasks that looking over more concrete bank rules would be a little too much for me. If you are interested in helping out feel free to apply to become an officer in the commerce department.

And thanks for the feedback/suggestions.
