Ji'miuhra (@Squirx)
Khajiit (Cathay)
Born 22nd of Heartfire, 2E 558 (Birthsign: The Lady)
Dragon Knight, Aldmeri Dominion
Overview:
Though in battle Ji'miuhra is brazen and direct, he is otherwise very thoughtful, preferring subtlety where force is not needed. Khajiit traditions and beliefs are extremely important to him, but he sees adaption as being the defining Khajiiti trait, and so is always seeking to learn the ways of other cultures as well. Indeed, he can often seem quite taciturn, but will become excited and animated when learn something new. He is also a natural storyteller, enthusiastically sharing the beliefs and histories he has heard.
One might think that absorbing so many contrasting beliefs and myths would discourage devout religiosity, but Ji’miuhra understands that stories do not need to be true to be True, in the more important sense. In fact, Ji’miuhra is often invoking or seeking favour from the Gods, whether it be a prayer to Kenarthi for swiftness, or a call to Alkosh to aid him in battle. He sees alternative pantheons as simply ways to better understand what must be very complex spirits.
While he believes there is much to be learned from each culture, he is still holds prejudiced opinions about certain races. In particular, he cannot help but despise Argonians, blaming them for the Knahatan Flu.
While constantly championing the spirit of unity, Ji’miuhra believes in being self sufficient wherever possible. (Khajiit must always embrace the paradoxical, no?) So as he travels, he has begun learning to repair and craft much of his own gear. To his own surprise, he has also discovered a love of cooking. Between the histories and ancient myths, his journals hold a special place for any exotic recipes he may find or bargain for.
Ji’miuhra cares about the Khajiiti people first and foremost, but sincerely believes they will benefit from being part of the Aldmeri Dominion. Thus it is his duty to not only contribute to the success and prosperity of this Dominion, but share Khajiiti wisdom to others in return.

Backstory
You want to know what brings this one to this place? To this war, to the Dominion? Well. Ji'miuhra will tell you a story. Like many, it is a story about stories, and a story about a girl.
This one was born in the desert city of Senneht, with Senche parents who lived as city guards. Many khajiit of the desert live a nomadic life, but for Ji'miuhra and his brothers and his sisters, this was not so. Senneht was more than just our home, it was our clan, our entire world. We spent our days running in the streets, or playing across roofs, or running errands for the many visitors to the city. (A child familiar with an unfamiliar place can be worth many coin). Senneht was a market city, built around an oasis, and caravans and traders were constantly arriving from across all of Elsweyr.
You may not have heard of Senneht. It is not the largest market in Elsweyr, so many outsiders pass it by. But among Khajiit, there is one reason to visit Senneht over any other city - the Story Trade. Most outsiders have never heard of this, even those who visit Senneht. Those who do, would laugh. But Khajiit understand the value of stories. They are history, philosophy, distant news and new discoveries, but all told properly, so that facts don't get in the way of the truth. When twilight came to Senneht, the Story Bazaar would open in the center of the city. Travellers would vie for a couch next to the best Storytellers, sugar would be passed around, and cats would trade one story for another. Ji'miuhra and his brothers and his sisters would listen from the rooftops. (We never paid for our stories, but one gets away with much as a cub.)
The first time this one met the girl, he was playing the West Gate for newcomers. Ji'miuhra was almost too old to be collecting coin from strangers for petty errands, but foreigners could not tell the difference. When an Altmer girl walked through the gates he was at her side before anyone else. She was young, perhaps only a few seasons older than Ji'miuhra, but it is especially hard to tell with the Golden Elves. She was alone as well, but Ji'miuhra did not question the foolishness of elves. He offered to find her a market stall to sell whatever wares she no doubt carried.
But the girl just looked this way and laughed. She had no wares, she said. She was here for the stories.
Over the next few nights, the Elf earned a place next to Ra'Qadarrah, the Master Storyteller himself. She recounted adventures that twitched the tails of even the most veteran travellers. She told raucous tales that made grizzled merchants blush. And she spoke it all in perfect Ta'agra. In return, she heard many stories whose tellers, this one is sure, never expected to be sharing with an Elf. But soon, we didn't see her as Altmer at all. She spoke as Khajiit, she lived like Khajiit... The moons were in her eyes, and sugar was in her smile, and this one will admit she was as beautiful as any Khajiit he has ever met.
For a time, the Elf-but-Khajiit lived in our city. She somehow convinced Ra'senji-Do, Master of the Sun Aspect Martial Arts of Rawlith Khaj, to teach her during the days. During the nights she would return to the Bazaar. This one always listened, when he could. She must have been a quick learner, for within a season she left, and Ra'senji-Do saw her off as a favoured student.
Soon, this one realized she had inspired him like no one else. Ji'miuhra began learning Rawlith Khaj himself, under its Dragon Aspect, so that one day he could go find his own adventures to bring home, to twitch the tails and shake the whiskers of the greatest Storytellers.
This one almost never got the chance.
It was the Knahaten Flu. In Senneht we had long been hearing of this horror. Whole districts of Senchal were burning to stop its advance. And we believed it had been stopped. But for once, our stories failed us. In the year 578, just as Ji'miuhra finished his martial training, the flu reached Senneht, and it was more voracious than our tales could ever convey. Ji'miuhra's brothers and Ji'miuhra's sisters and Ji'miuhra's teachers were dying. Finally, Ji'miuhra was ready to die himself.
That's when my Elf-but-Khajiit returned, this time not as an Adventurer, but as a Leader. She brought healers, and warriors, and she went to Senneht's Clan Mothers and she yelled and hissed until they gave her free reign of the city. (For the city was dying, and they could not save it themselves.) And then she was Elf-but-Khajiit-but-Elf-again, for her warriors closed the streets, and her healers served in order, and the city of Khajiit moved not with the grace of Cats, but with the rigidity of Elves. With Order, and Law, and No Mercy for those who were already lost, the Golden Elves strangled the Knahaten flu. It was not the Khajiit way, but it saved us.
For the second time, my life was changed by the same woman. When she first came, Ji'miuhra saw an Altmer who had learned to be Khajiit. Now she returned as Altmer incarnate - but what is more Khajiit than to adapt? This one realized that in these troubled times, to be true Khajiit, we must all adapt, and learn from others as well as our own.
When the city was saved, the Altmer moved on. When it was restored, I moved on, deciding to seek adventures of my own in the lands of the Altmer and the Bosmer. I carry the ways of the Khajiit close to my heart, our history and our stories, and the Ja-Kha'jay. But I also learn the ways, the stories, of others, so that I and eventually all my people may grow.
As for joining the war, surely you have guessed by now? This one follows the pawprints of his dear Khajiit-but-Elf, his inspiration and saviour, and an officer of the Dominion army. With only a single platoon of soldiers, and an understanding of our people, she was able to save the only world this one had ever known. The Dominion has a Queen who understands how much our people can offer each other, and this one is proud to call her My Queen as well. For as long as Ji’miuhra is able to learn and share the stories that make us stronger, this one will go wherever she commands.
