This has been a topic for discussion in more than one officer meeting. We are constantly looking for ways to involve our members in the stories/events or just roleplay in general. Anyone and everyone can post in this thread, their ideas of how they want to be involved in the RP or how we can involve other members. A great way to do this is by looking through character sheets, and checking out character skills/weaknesses and past events that might lead to something good, or might come back to bite them in the butt :P

Some ideas to start us off! Remember before going through with ideas like these, we first need the permission of the person who the story involves.

Being a member of the undaunted who loves to share stories and drink, perhaps we can send him and other members to take care of local problems? bandits, rabid creatures and the such. Buy him a drink and see what kinda stories he has to tell?

@SilkybeardBillbong /Tsalazami (dunno why I can't link the name)
Being one of the slave overseers who "cut down" slaves during a rebellion maybe a relative of one of those slaves comes seeking revenge?

or do a story where she found the relatives that she came looking for?

13514504 /Grey Myst
As an aspiring wondering bard, maybe he can get his start in the Tall Trunks Tavern? Being hired on to perform songs

Being a werewolf, there is also the opportunity for kinship with other werewolf characters

Bumping the thread. We need a new guild story. Share your ideas here!

Lucian had been wanting me to ask you (Elsy) about a possible event/short storyline involving his character being kidnapped and returning to Lycanthrophy. I don't know all the specific details, but it's an idea :3
BeckifyJun 10, 2015

That could possibly turn into a bigger storyline if more people wanted to be involved. I had thought of introducing a werewolf extremist character a while back to another guild but then got wrapped up into another plot and it got forgotten about. If anyone else is interested, we could have someone kidnap a few characters, plotting to turn them and then they escape/get rescued but not before one (Luke) or more are turned.

Just throwing an idea out there. Will come up with more once my creativity returns to me :P

Yay! I'd love this. I'm happy you guys like the idea. Lucian had cured his lycanthropy but I missed the edge it gave him so I brainstormed a way to get him to be one again and to make him relevant in the guild. My original idea was that he was attacked by a werewolf (perhaps sent by Hircine?) to make Luke into a werewolf again for betraying Hircine by curing his lycanthropy. Then he shifted and got caught and imprisoned. Perhaps got a letter out asking for help? But I'd love to have others in on it as well. Perhaps Hircine turned Luke and some of his new friends as punishment??

I wonder, would werewolfies in Vulk be susceptible to Hircine's wishes to capture Lucian?

Kinda. In Morrowind's Bloodmoon, Every so often you would get visions from Hircine when you transformed and he basically was like "GO DO THIS THING HOUND."
Wasn't sure if something like that would work here too?

I would think that a command like that would depend on the persons control over their being. The command would be like an instinctual urge to obey it, but perhaps if someone has worked long to repress or control their urges and lycanthropy, perhaps they would have power to resist it. Also, maybe it would be harder to resist in werewolf form, because that is already some measure of giving ones self over. In that case maybe once a person turned it would almost keep them like that till they fulfilled his will, and people would be afraid to change, lest they lose the control they maintain in human/mer form.
RaccoonismJun 12, 2015

Definitely agree with you Racuvar. Older hounds should be more resistant to it. Newer or more unstable hounds would be more susceptible. We should make this clear. I'd like to see some more rp from some of our other wws, this would be a good time to include them.
AlijhamJun 15, 2015

Lucian, as far as I've seen, was a very susceptible wolf. He transformed pretty often and bragged about it; but a lot of times it seemed he couldn't control it at all.

We should prolly make a list of all susceptible WWs, maybe post asking who wants to be in on the hunt for Luke?
I know Hlor would be susceptible, but given she is more like the 'moon moon' of ww's, I would rather her fail miserably.
Lets get some more peeps involved!

Oh yeah, I'm gonna throw this on here so I don't forget:

Mullet a few weeks ago talked to me about doing a Jack-the-Ripper-esque/ Blood on Ice (as in the Skyrim quest that happens in Windhelm), serial killer type story where everyone has to pick up clues and figure out who among them is the murderer. Maybe have decoy people and such joining the community, some of which will be innocent and one will not be.

Basically a giant murder mystery party, or a round of the game Clue.

So, this is an idea that Raccoon and I came up with together over a lengthy session of brainstorming for a new guild story.

We realized that all of our guild stories have basically ended in a bunch of face-punching to fix things back up and get them back to normal. This can be done in many, many, many varieties, though we figured that we should come up with something that you can't punch in the face to fix.

The ideas boiled down to two central ones, either a natural disaster (Hurricane, tornado etc.), or some sort of viral infection/disease. However, upon thinking deeply, we managed to come up with a way to combine these two ideas. So, the full idea is as-follows:

Imagine this, Vulkwasten is hit by an earthquake of a massive magnitude, the ground itself splits under the force of the rumbling and shaking. This quake lasts for a total of about three minutes before finally dying down. The disaster was..well, disastrous. The people of Vulkwasten spend almost a week recovering and rebuilding after this quake. However, they quickly learn that the devastation from the earthquake was the least of their worries.

Only days after the earthquake, a man is found dead in the center of the town with no indication as to how he died, no apparent attack or outer wounds. However, upon further investigation, it is revealed that a fungus had been slowly forming in his lungs, until it finally blocked his airways, and it was too late.

No sooner does this happen, than others in the town begin exhibiting symptoms of this mysterious fungus. What was once a town disaster turns into a town epidemic, and the people must race against time to learn the origin of this mysterious spore, and to save their friends from a gruesome and painful fate.

Do we have an open RP night? Cuz as much as id love to say there's an open RP to join somewhere in vulk all the time there isnt often, maybe something private every once in a while but have we ever talked about a day that we have a scheduled time to just hang out and maybe talk about the recent events over a mug of mead? I feel like we would, but then an event starts cuz thats like, when theres a gathering, when we do events. One of the problems i noticed is like, people don't know IC or OOC what in the world is going on, cuz they dont know who is who, someone that Alijham was a waitress for Hircine's sake. If there was a time where everyone could sit down and have a talk that wasnt right before/after a large event, that would be nice. If there is something like this already maybe we should find a better way to clear up RP, like people had no clue who thorthil is, which makes sense, but also put everyone out of place i think, unsure how to handle the situation. He could've been a drunk or a part of the Council for all they knew, for all i knew, and for all their/my characters knew, and I've been here for a while and do remember something about him disappearing at one point maybe but im not gonna remember that for a long time unless someone told me about the story IC or i was there IC.

I ithnk im a good person to suggest this seeing most of the people who plan events tend to, ya'know, been here for a long time, and with that comes a lot of knowledge about a lot of things, but we had at least 3-5 people there who have never RPed with us before. I have paid attention to the guild in my absence and back when this was BSC and i couldn't be a part of what was happening, but I didn't get to know a lot of characters very well, or aa good recollection of events.

Haj, we have open RP every night except Mondays and Fridays. People are allowed to gather in the tavern at any time to discuss anything. There's usually a handful of people RPing in the evening every night talking about the state of things and doing their own things.

It's sort of on members to go to the tavern when we don't have events and people are RPing to investigate or ask the questions they have. There's also usually a number of people RPing before and after events, during these times any member can ask any character anything ICly.

I've been confused before too Manguy, but most things I can clear up by finding who it is and checking their character sheets or back through a journal if they have one. Obviously not everyone dies that so much though. And yeah, there's hardly ever a night where I can't find a few people roleplaying in the tavern. Maybe not always people I know, but that's how to find out about new people. Gotta talk to them. :)

Hmm, whenever i check, from 8-10pm est, when most people would RP, i see usually nothing, and if we don't actually schedule this is it still very clearly stated to new members? cuz yeah i ive heard we have open RP there, but i don't see it, Im on a lot and all i remember stated in guild chat in the past week about open RP was that ali was stressed, and that was in the clinic, which is not open RP cuz a lot of people cant get there, im not even sure if Haj can. I think i only did that quest with one character. And yes I do understand that gathering can happen on their own, people are allowed to RP anywhere they'd like whenever they want, the thing is, unless it is actually written and or scheduled for people to know people are probably gonna be there, then how are they going to know? Like if we had an open RP night, people won't feel obligated but feel like there is always something that night they could hop in on. I never feel like i can log in at 9pm est on a Wednesday to have a drink with someone i may have never met without begging guild chat for a while. I even stated tonight that my friend was playing and if anyone /wanted/ to RP that they could just ask, because no one was in Malabal Tor except one person. Though i think we still do auctions at that time, and if that is true i get why no one was available, but if it was scheduled that wouldn't happen. I could've told him "hey, go to the inn in this place, that's where you'll find RPers." And that would be a nice way for members to get acquainted with a lot of people at once without something bad happening in the middle of a conversation. I know a lot of casual RP guilds do open RP, but aren't we supposed to be an all around RP guild? from private things that are dark enough to be in a group chat to something anyone could RP even if they have yet to RP ever? that's how i always saw us, at least, since we do. I just think this is the one thing we should do a bit more/ a bit more structured at least.
RoseheadJun 28, 2015
Jun 28, 2015 at 02:10 AM #31
Maybe im somehow looking at the one time people aren't there? I'm usually never doing anything though, so i don't know how that really happens, but it can. It should be something new members can find easilly though, and not have to ask or check around.
ElsyJun 28, 2015

Well we do have a rumor mill type thing. I can start updating that so members can reference it. Everything in the rumor mill is common knowledge and can be used ICly.
Deleted UserJun 28, 2015
Jun 28, 2015 at 02:15 AM #33
Well that just sounds like a different experience with me. I know I'm not on every night, but even nights that aren't scheduled I can find 1-3 people in the tavern. And yeah, I've dine the same with guild chat before and usually a person or two will say they could come join. Me for rp, even if I don't know them. Sometimes though people just aren't inline, or are busy. It just happens. I'm pretty sure our guild description mentions open rp. If not then yeah, maybe add that we have open rp every night if people would like.
I don't think that's a guild leader fault though. The tavern is there, there are guild members. If people choose not to RP, then you can't force people to participate. Its very much dependant on people being willing to get involved and play with people they don't know.
RoseheadJun 28, 2015
Jun 28, 2015 at 02:24 AM #34
So instead of making an open RP on the event list we should direct them to a thread that implies that they heard a rumor from someone at the tavern where everyone talks and would be talking if said event happened? I feel like that's just a less interactive way to do it, seeing of course if you are at a guild event and were confused or hear a rumor (from the rumor mill) you can just ask someone for more information at said open RP event. It doesn't have to be hosted, doesn't have to be planned, it just has to be mentioned by an officer when its 30min from, 10 min from, and then when it starts, and it would most likely start at 9pm est, when there is always at least 1 officer online. And to be clear I'm not blaming anyone, I just think we as a guild since the beginning of Blue Skooma itself have needed this. We don't have those members who used to sit in Sren'Ja for a long time just alone or talking to one another until someone wants to RP. I'd be that person but my characters aren't very attached to the guild to be in the tavern every night alone.
BeckifyJun 28, 2015
Jun 28, 2015 at 04:37 AM #35
Hopefully I'm not stepping out of line here since I'm not an Officer but I just wanted to add my two cents.

I'm online just about everyday (hey, I love this game) and I RP most nights. I'm a member of three RP guilds and I've noticed that all of them offer open RP every night except their event nights. So I'm guessing that's pretty common for most RP guilds. Now with BSR, I do notice that besides event nights and the Woodhearth Market, that RP can start pretty late. Lately I've been signing on about 11pm EST and RP is just starting. And I've noticed that BSR, when compared to some other RP guilds like SCC for example, has a smaller number of active every day RP'ers. This isn't a terrible thing. One of my other guilds consisted of basically 5 active RP'ers and we did very well at keeping the stories going and engaging. But my point is, it's rare that I see no one RP'ing at all in the tavern. Sometimes you have to ask in GC to get it started but 9 times out of 10 someone will answer you. My suggestion would be that the people that are RP'ing to maybe advertise it in GC so people will join. Personally, I don't wait for an invitation, I just show up and hunt them down. Hehe.

Now, I do understand that some people (like newbies) are shy and don't want to ask for RP. I can understand, I use to be that way and guess what, I did not get a lot of RP with different people during those times. When I was too shy to ask or just show up, my RP was very limited. It helps to try and get over that and put yourself out there. No one is going to throw a tomato at you, I promise. The worse thing that could happen: No one answers. The best thing: You get lots of RP! And it also helps to find a way to get your character involved. I gave up on one of my characters because she didn't seem to /fit/. Sometimes that happens. But, with Styletta, I made sure she had a purpose there, a reason to be there and stick around. Find that purpose. I swear it will help.

But like I said, if it helps, then maybe the long time members can advertise the RP they're in to bring in the newbies. Putting open RP on the site would help too. I also have no problem showing up to help the new people get settled. Once I've got my evenings free again I can offer my little barmaid to show up to the Tavern more often.

Ok, I'll shut up now. :-P

I absolutely ADORE this idea, Rolland. I think we should bring a little more attention to it and perhaps make its own thread after the werewolf cultist thing is over. That, though, should only be a couple weeks. This is a fantastic idea and opportunity for the people of Vulkwasten to not prove their mettle, but their faith in one another ^-^ plus, that fungus will keep Ali suuuuuuuuper busy.

So this is a idea i've heard mentioned a couple times and I sat and thought it through and wondered, what if Vulk had form of fight club or some kind of event where people could do a bare knuckle boxing or UFC type fighting?

I figured it could be something icly to help people relieve stress ((Which we is always there for everybody)) and improve self defense. Anyone could join and it the fighting would only be well, basically UFC rules ((aka no hurting with the intent to kill or pulling hair, gouging eyes, hitting some guy in the family jewels.)) Consider the injuries that /should/ happen healing potions could be on stand bye or even a basic healer.

I was thinking ways for someone to win would either be to make ones opponent submit, or K.O, depending on what the fighters agree too. Perhaps even do contests for prizes or titles like "Champion of Vulkwatsen" or something along those lines. It can even be supervised bye one armed guard in case things get out of hand, I even made up outfits/uniforms for it. The only thing I have yet to come up with is where exactly would it be held?

What do you all think of it? Yay or nay?

The crafting area seems like it would be better in a sense since there's no chance of destroying the tavern. I was even thinking Malyne offering to teach others how to fight since it's one of his strongest strengths in a sense. What all did you have in mind Elsy?

So seeing as how Malyne would be removed from his position int he guard resulting in him quitting his job I got a random idea. I was thinking of Malyne and a few others in short starting a Yakuza/Mafia-esque gang that would be doing things like shaking down corrupt merchants, peddling skooma, and basically anything else you seen in the godfather. The thing making it possibly fun is the gang would be using the money to support the town ((Which no one would know where the money really came from)) or use there blood money for something that would be good.

The idea would be for Mal and and others to do something that would question everyones morals and opinions one another icly for character development. Opinions?

I think that's a good idea, I like it. Just...if you start it, be prepared for the Blue Skooma Corporation to come down on them for butting in on business. Which could actually work as a good plot point for that, a sort of rivalry between that gang and the Corporation. Add a little spice to it :P

I love this idea. My other character Lucrezia was involved in and later helped run a criminal organization that did stuff like that. She was even making skooma for them. Since I'm moving her here after her split up with her husband, she needs something to do and helping part time in the clinic won't keep her too entertained after a while XD

It was pretty fun in the beginning when BSR had the two rival groups. It got to be a little too much fighting (nearly every night) so they merged them together but it might work this time if there's enough communication between the two group and some planning.

I think that sounds fun, but there are some super perceptive people in this guild that would fight to know where the money came from. It's not as easy as "here's money from nowhere". So, anyone who was in that hand is it a big risk to be fried by other people and cause like a guild civil-war.

Then they'll need some kind of front, like any good criminal organization. For the Nightwalkers it was different things. They did a lot of trading with other companies and would slip the illegal stuff in caravans and such. They also ran a Companion House too.

Do we have a setup for Rotmeth in/out? Maybe the gang could do that as a front.
VythurJul 23, 2015

Well, the idea for the "good" gang woudl heavily be based of the Yakuza in the sense of trying to protect the community bye mixing legal and illegal business and trying to basically control things from behind a curtain, blackmailing, shake downs, ect. But all under the motto of "Sometimes the world needs monsters to take care of other monsters." So perhaps they could be under the guise of a business for there cover?

But considering who would be running it i'd imagine it would be keeping a lot of people from investigating with the exception of a few people.

I think the rotmeth trade thing is a fantastic idea, I didn't think of it that way.
ElridgeJul 23, 2015

Rotmeth was being produced by Mo'jahi in the floor above the Tall Trunks Tavern, he ran that part and myself (who, due to work is unable to play and therefore is missing IC) ran the tavern below. Do'Wadiq is currently running the tavern in Ri'Zharim's absence, so I would talk to him or @Ice_Eye about Rotmeth. We had it planned where Mo'Jahi would sell skooma through Tall Trunks, with Ri'Zharim being an unwitting accomplice (thinking it was Rotmeth), but both of us got busy irl :(

If you guys want to pick that up, it would be great!

I think that sounds great, and then implement them into it when said characters are back ICly.

Ooo. Interesting.

As an update for Ri's info, Scav plans on using a different char from now on and wants to pull Wadiq out of Vulk, so he mentioned to me he thinks he is going to eventually give the tavern to Sty and have Wadiq leave. So I would talk to him to see what's up.

I am wary of a guild civil war. So as long as there is communication and we plan stuff out, I don't mind this happening.
BeckifyJul 24, 2015

Aww I'd be cool with that and Sty has some money so I could rp her offering to buy the Tavern or something.

And I agree. I was around when Blue Skooma had the Clan and the Merchants and after a while it got VERY tense because the communication was not there at some times. I don't normally like RP to be planned out but in cases like this it's a must, to avoid too much IC drama and also OOC misunderstandings.

But I think it would work. Come up with a good lie (or front) for where the money's coming from that's believable and then the rest should stay secret and kept hidden, to not raise any suspicion from Guards and stuff.

I do believe that if we do it right that we could pull of a great storyline out of it. I like it because no one is forced to be one or the other, and that it represents one of our most well known times as Blue Skooma. I think a lot of the members that participate a lot and are still around are from that general story arc if i am correct, or before that.
VythurJul 25, 2015

Okay so do some thinking I came up with a basic idea or gist of the story line.

Due to the new guard captain being elected it would spark Mal to take matters into his own hands, and wanting to protect the town in a way who knows can't be legally be done. Due to being freed bye someone from the Blue Skooma Cartel for unknown reasons maybe he would come up with some kind of deal with them. Basically starting to gang but working under them in a way that benefits them.

The front would be the rotmeth the town produces and maybe trading and the all the money would simply claim to 'profit', and since Mal doesn't really own a business or have any background with it he could always possibly use some kind of blackmail.

So as some of you know, I run a weekly event in Woodhearth on Thursdays, Woodhearth Open Market. We are always looking for more merchants, and living in a place for brewing alcoholic drinks, some can be in charge of getting ingrediants, some can brew it, and some can sell it at the Market. That's not to say thats to only thing that can be sold, but its an idea.

A lot of people have had events that have their character captured or based somewhat around them, but obviously they aren't given the big spotlight either. I was wondering if I could do something of the sort for Bhi?
ElsyOct 01, 2015
Oct 01, 2015 at 09:23 PM #74
I want to try to get everyone involved. Bhi, we could do that as a side-story but I'm wary about making the guild story "Bhi gets kidnapped." If we have an antagonist in the story that needs to capture people, we could have Bhi be that person captured, but it shouldn't just be about Bhi.

Bandits? Maybe even the covenant since we haven't had a story involving them in a long time? But not another invasion or anything. I was thinking whoever they'd be, they would have just followed someone to the town.

Well lots of people (From that fancy lil poll thingy) seem to like the idea of a spoopy sort of story. So maybe something with the un-dead, ghosts or maybe necromancy? Just an idea.
Supreme CactusOct 02, 2015

I thought that the Falmer would be an interesting Idea for a horror type thing. Only trouble with that is the fact they are in skyrim so It'd be difficult to fit them into a plot. It'd have to be a thing where everybody gets zipped to a Dwemer ruin or something.
GnarlyarchfiendOct 02, 2015
Oct 02, 2015 at 01:16 PM #80
Well based on the poll many want an relaxing event, and truly you cant blame them for that. The past few events since I have been back to RP were mostly death and violence. And since not everyone RPs a combat character or always enjoys massive combat RP scenes, a relaxing event would be great right about now. Perhaps a celebration or such? Or maybe a massive guild trip to somewhere where everyone can RP on vacation or something like that.
BeckifyOct 02, 2015
Oct 02, 2015 at 01:35 PM #81
^^^ Totally agree with Afer. I think everyone is craving some relaxation time with their characters. A trip doesn't sound like a bad idea at all. There are a couple of places that have nice areas to RP in. Like Greenhill in Reapers March, for example. To my knowledge, no one is using that area anymore. We can come up with a reason to visit a place like that (maybe a caravan to pick up Lu's old stock of medical supplies and drinks for the tavern). In SCC we RPed a caravan trip there and a lot of people stayed for a few days. There's other places the group can visit too, we can check some places out.

I definitely want a Relaxing thing more than a horror/action one. A trip sounds like a very nice Idea. Perhaps the local Mages Guild has a reason to go to the Location of the trip and is offering the chance for people to go along in order to see other locations of Tamriel. Would give scholar type chars a nice event aswell as others.
BeckifyOct 02, 2015

I like the idea of a story involving the Mages Guild. We have some mages in the group but haven't really done much of a story with them.
RaccoonismOct 02, 2015

A think a massive guild trip is a fantastic idea. Changing the rp scene would be welcome, as the tavern gets kinda old. With the addition of Bethany, and the heavy daedric theme of the last event, there is more then enough reason for the trip to the mages guild there.

IC reasons for the trip:

-Picking up magical supplies
-Reporting on what accrued
-Dropping off any artifacts
-Open up trade to the town
-Offering townsfolk a chance to see more of Tamriel for various reasons

OOC Reasons:

-Relaxing event
-Noncombat rpers can enjoy more scholarly and laid back rp
-change of rp scene

I Propose the trip last a week or so instead of a single event.

And it goes along with poll results so far. I like the reasons Raccoon has listed and Oldiin and Krimie have some good points as well. I also like the idea of a supplies scavenger hunt sorta deal where we need certain things and go to a few different towns to collect them.
