Raised in a home full of music, Aeoric loved to play the lute. When he was six his skill in the instrument caught the eye of an older Kinlord that offered to sponsor him so he could become a great musician. Aeoric's family readily agreed and the young Altmer was off on his first adventure in life.
Soon after arriving at the Kinlord's home Aeoric was given his own lute, which he keeps to this day. The lute is a fine oak, with horsehair strings and highly polished and worn. For months Aeoric was trained by the best musicians and his skill grew. By the time he was eight his training in the lute was put on hold as he was trained in the courtly ways. Proper etiquette, table manners and how to wear his clothing.
At the age one ten Aeoric was well versed in courtly ways and was allowed to practice the lute once again. But soon after the Kinlord approached and asked "Have I been good to you, Aeoric? Have I not given you everything you need, and more?"
Aeoric quickly nodded his head in agreement. "Yes, Kinlord. You have given me more than I could have asked."
The kinlord smiled and placed a hand upon his shoulder. "Then perhaps you would do me the honor of becoming my personal bard. Now, mind you, this is not something easy. If you agree, your family will be will taken care of and your brother will be taught to use Magicka by the finest Mages I can find. What do you say?"
Eyes bright, he agreed.
The following years were not what he expected. Aeoric was trained to be more than a bard. He was trained to be a thief, spy and assassin for the Kinlord. Disguises and a silver tongue were his tools. By the age of sixteen, Aeoric had stolen property deeds and various amounts of priceless items for the Kinlord. He was never asked to kill, yet he knew it would come one day.
When the day came that he was told he would have to kill for the first time, he was apprehensive. His mission was to sneak into a rival noble's house and murder him. He was then to frame a goblin slave by placing the weapon with it. When he arrived at the noble's home, he was able pick the locks without problem and move silently to the bedchamber. Upon seeing his target he hesitated. Instead of striking the killing blow he left the house and returned to the Kinlord.
When the Kinlord discovered his failure he shook his head and had the guards attack Aeoric. Not a trained soldier he had two options. Fight, and possibly die, or flee. So, he fled the house and lived off the land for a while. He watched as the privileged across Tamriel used those without coin to do their bidding. He decided to change things. His training was useful so he started to steal from the rich, but not to give away. No, he stole to build his own fortune. With it, he would build his own empire. And empire of what, he was not so sure.
At that time, he took up a calling card. One he was given years before, when he first started his training and he had tried to talk his way out wearing a disguise that made him look like a woman. The Kinlord said his tongue was indeed silver and that he was deceitful like a serpent. Thus he started to leave behind two stylized silver snakes, each shaped like the letter S.
