"Do you ever feel like you're just wandering, Mr.Arbor, just looking for a purpose? Like you're not truly anywhere or doing anything for a reason?"
"Yes, all the time--well, I used to. Not anymore. It takes some longer than others to find their niche, Reliza. You're still so young."
"I feel aimless, Mr.Arbor."
"You can call me Ali, you know. We're friends. Aren't we?"
Reliza shrugged sheepishly. He slouched by the fire and poked at it, saying no more.
"The people here care about you more than you think."
"And by people here, you mean just you? Right?"
Alijham wet his lips. "And I am not enough?" He asked softly.
Reliza recoiled a bit, holding his knees to his lips. "That's not what I meant. You know that.. that's not what I meant. I like you a lot, Ali," he poked out his lower lip.
"I don't think you trust me. Liking me a lot doesn't mean anything, not if you don't trust me."
"I trust you."
Alijham dipped his hands into the wash basin, reaching to smear the water on to Reliza's face. Reliza gasped, rolling back until his back hit the firepit. He just stared at him.
Alijham pulled a cloth hanging from the basin and patted off Reliza's face. "You're beautiful, you know. Why do you hide your face behind all that paint?"
Reliza didn't say anything, bringing his hands up to drag them down his clean face. His mouth formed a hard line.
"I told you that you didn't trust me, didn't I?" Alijham asked. "You know, you look so pure like that. You shouldn't hide such a gift."
