After almost three months of Vulkwasten's guard standing without a Captain, after Former Captain Eranor Bluewisp was drafted into the military, the night finally came where the Council would pick a new leader for the brave of the township. The tedious and difficult proceedings began with an arena, where the combat skills of the contestants would be put to the test. After receiving the flags, and the rules, the participants, Menelin Bluebrook, Tigrus, Nalwynn, Afer Leotus, and Fedris Timberscrub, assembled in the center of the arena to face off against each-other.
The fight was a difficult one, but nonetheless quickly ended, with Nalwynn standing victorious, in possession of the flags of all the combatants. Once congratulations were given, the contestants once again lined up in front of the Council for a difficult question of morality. Each one gave a different answer, none of them right or wrong. They were spoken concisely, and the round of questioning lasted only a few minutes.
In a final act of what could only be perceived as a test of patience, the contestants were made to wait for Treethane Elsynia and Spinner Racuvar to complete an at-length talk before finally reaching a decision. Among the tension of the small group, one finally came out on top, Menelin Bluebrook.
With the guard once again led by a council-chosen Captain, the people returned to the Tavern for a strong drink and conversation.
