Clinic Business (Please read me!)

So, in general, I've noticed that some people are getting really badly hurt and there aren't any medics around to heal them, and I wanted to address that. Sometimes ic it is mentioned and someone says something about Ali never being there when disaster strikes, yada yada yada, and it bothers me. It bothers me because it's not that Ali isn't there all the time or another medic icly, but that sometimes we can't be there because of ooc reasons, and that is then squished into ic.

I wanted some help thinking of a solution for this. I don't want any healers being labeled because of not being there when they are needed or anything else, because icly and oocly, people can't always know when they are needed. It is mostly ooc that the people that could help are offline, though, I think.

And that brings me to something else: sometimes people bring in new characters and the such and have them come in injured or dying, stumbling into the town out of breath and whatnot. And that's totally cool and okay! It's actually a really awesome way to introduce a character. It's just that sometimes, like I said up thaar ^^, that the people that could help them aren't always there to help, and they're left hanging around dying feeling awkward with all of those dudes that have no idea how to help the other dude. So, when you want to do this or any kind of controlled injury, pleasepleaseplease make sure there is someone that can heal them online an available for rp? I don't want to delay anyone's rp aspirations, but that would really make life so much easier for everyone. If I am online, no matter what I'm doing, 90% of the time I'm never too busy to have Ali hop into the clinic and help out, so don't feel like you're intruding on anything by shooting me a whisper and telling me I'm needed. That's what I'm here for, and it's totally cool.

The other the thing is that sometime an injury can't be helped, and it's a in-the-thick-of-the-moment kinda thing, and pow they are rushed to the clinic and stuff and blah. And sometimes when that happens, there isn't always a healer there. In that case, if I'm online, I can more than likely pop in very very soon. If not, and no one else is there that can help that character, what do we do? I don't really know. Me and a couple people in guild chat had the idea there could be an invisiAli, because icly he is almost always in the clinic, even when I can't be oocly. And I don't want to let ooc barriers effect our rp. That idea came about because we always have an invisibarmaid when Sty or the like can't be there, so can we do that with a healer, too? I don't know. Doing heals and stuff is sometimes a lot more than just *slap bandages, pow your healed*. If it's okay with some people that the healing is not in depth and an off-screen thing, we can totally do that, and they can just send me or another healer a mail about the injures and what happened, but I know that some people like having the icly person there working their hardest while their character hangs on for dear life. And that's awesome, too. So, in that case, if your char is dying in-the-thick-of-the-moment rp, and there are no healers, what do we do? Well, we could always pause the rp and resume it when a healer is available. Rp isn't real-time, and that can be a very fun and easy to work with factor of it, but sometimes people don't like that.

So, in the case that the injury is unavoidable, there are no healers around, they don't want to pause the rp, and they don't want an invisihealer, what do we do? I know that sounds a bit unrealistic, but it's happened before, and I don't want to stink on anyone's awesome close-to-death rp. So, I don't know. Ideas?

I agree that any time there's going to be a big injury, make sure a healer is online AND available to RP with you. It's just polite.

Shoot Ali a message or any of the other IC healers one.

We've done this on SCC and it works out well that way. Like Ali said, sometimes RL happens. We all have OOC stuff to do, we sometimes RP other characters, we even quest and grind! (shocker, I know!)

Invisa-healer and invisa-barmaid are sometimes needed.

Even just shouting "Hey any healers online?" in Guild Chat works.
