Name: Zhehaiin Khenarsi
Age: 28
Race: Khajiit
Sex: Female
Marital Status: Single
Sexual Orientation: pan, slight preference for women

Physical Description
Zhehaiin is a tall, muscular khajiit with dark fur and black stripes. She wears a seemingly permanent scowl, and her piercing eyes peer out, often with a bit of a glare, from beneath her strong brow. She wears her fiery orange hair in a mohawk, and adorns her face simply, with a forehead ornament and a septum ring. Other adornments she has, if one were to ever see her back unarmored, is a tattoo of a pair of intertwined serpents that covers a large portion of her back and shows faintly through her fur, though it is clear she has let her fur grow over the tattoo either intentionally or from laziness. She wears simple, practical armor of a heavy cuirass and greaves, preferring lighter hides and leathers for the rest of her protection, and always carries a pair of daggers at her hip, no matter the situation.

Flair: Has a long, jagged scar running along her cheek and onto her chin. Always has dark circles under her eyes, as though she can't sleep, and bits of parchment covered in scralwed notes peek out from a tattered journal that hangs at her side, as well as various chinks or cracks in her armor. She is almost never, ever seen without a dagger on either hip, and occasionally toys with one of them when nervous. She also carries a necklace strung with 2 khajiit teeth, 1 argonian tooth, 1 dunmer tooth, 1 altmer tooth, 2 bosmer teeth, and a redguard tooth, each from a different individual, and will occasionally hold it and mutter a short prayer.

Zhehaiin Khenarsi is a proud, headstrong Khajiiti woman who is keenly aware of her own capabilities. She tries her best to be respectful of those around her, and enjoys the simple, quiet things in life. While around other people, she is usually tense and behaves with the nervous demeanor of someone who sees threats around every corner, but when alone or with close friends, Zhehaiin's tense demeanor gives way to the contemplatory nature of a scholar and philosopher, and she enjoys discussing questions of philosophy and religion. She has a deep-set mistrust for official institutions and the wealthy, believing them to be just another set of thugs who prey upon the destitute and the weak, and has a tendency to view justice from a black and white perspective, albeit a different one from that which is normally seen - to her, the status of the criminal oft matters more than the crime itself. She makes an attempt to be friendly to those around her, but past trauma and an intense feeling of personal unworthiness and distrust for others makes friends difficult to come by.

Rumors: Zhehaiin was once a mercenary of no small repute, serving in various armed conflicts across Tamriel for coin and glory for a period of five years, between the ages of 18 and 23. Five years past, however, she left mercenary work and disappeared entirely for reasons unknown. It is only recently that she has appeared once more within the public eye, and some of her former associates have gone missing since...

If your character has strong criminal connections/is involved in organized crime, you may also know the following rumor:
Zhehaiin spent 4 years after quitting her job as a mercenary at the bottom of a Skooma bottle. While she was a sugartooth, she did almost anything to secure her next fix - the only thing she wouldn't do was hurt someone. Somehow, after four years, she managed to wean herself off Skooma, and has never been back since.

Background:
Zhehaiin Khenarsi was born to a pair of impoverished skooma addicts in the streets of Dune, an unimportant child born to pathetic, unimportant parents in a city populated by mostly unimportant people just trying to get by. As she grew, her parents were rarely, if ever, present to actually raise their child, and as a result she learned to fend for herself from a young age. Among the urchins, Zhehaiin has the advantage of physical stature and strength - her inborn qualities made it easy for her to bully her fellows into submission, and she was always the best fed and best entertained of the street children who dwelt in her territory. In turn, as she grew, she became stronger, quicker, and more cunning as it became more and more difficult to maintain her position as queen of the hill - her followers were more jealous rivals than a loyal crew, and she knew that childish intimidation would only keep her alive so long. As a result, upon her 18th year, she sought out and joined the Twin Serpents mercenary band, and left Dune and its crowded streets behind.

For five years, Zhehaiin fought alongside the Twin Serpents, her friends, companions, and partners in pillage. They traveled across Tamriel, selling their blades to whomever was willing to pay the highest fee. At first, Zhehaiin found these battles exhilarating - the clang and clamor of steel against steel, the panicked breath of a foe hot against her face, the taste of blood in her mouth as her daggers cut and sliced the ebbing life force from one body after another with a level of finely honed deadly artistry that filled her breast with pride to have accomplished. As the years passed, however, she began to grow more and more uncertain of her position with the Twin Serpents - to kill enemy soldiers was well and good, but in the wake of the destruction they wrought, she could feel the piercing eyes of orphans, of those bystanders unfortunate enough to stand before their fury. The blood of innocents crushed by a collapsed home, killed by a stray arrow, or even simply murdered by her fellow mercenaries haunted her dreams, and the piercing eyes of those newly made orphans she knew she had played a part in dooming to share in the life she had known as a child made fitful her waking hours. After a brutal assault on a small Imperial village as part of a largely Bosmeri raiding party, during which Zhehaiin's closest companions within the Twin Serpents were killed, the Khajiiti woman cast down her daggers and fled the mercenary's life.

For the next four years, she wandered from town to town searching for the next bottle of Skooma, wherever it may come from. The sweet drug overwhelmed her senses and blotted out the terrible memories - with Skooma coursing through her veins, Zhehaiin could sleep, however fitfully, and for a long time that was all that mattered. Where or how she got the drug was unimportant - theft, degradation, extortion, all were small prices to pay for the peace of mind those tiny bottles gave to the once mercenary; her only limitation was that she would not kill. In her fourth year of addiction, Zhehaiin met a man who would begin the process of her turnaround - an Altmeri monk whose purse she tried to steal for her next fix. His skill with a quarterstaff ensured her failure, but rather than the fight she expected to ensue, what Zhehaiin received was a helping hand. The monk tutored her in the ways of philosophical contemplation, taking her with him on his travels and showing her the vast beauty of Tamriel and its people. Slowly, the Skooma was drained from her system and replaced with contemplation, meditation, and penance - her terror at her deeds was replaced by a sense of guilt at what she had done tempered by a sense of duty to atone for her violence and irresponsibility, and so, after traveling with the monk for so long, she bid him farewell to seek her own path, taking up her daggers once more.

Now, Zhehaiin Khenarsi lives as a wandering warrior haunted by her past - the nightmares still come, but she has learned to live with them. Her blades belong to none for coin nor prestige - their purpose now is to cut grim justice into those who would wrong the innocent as she makes whatever attempts she can to turn her deadly artistry towards a nobler cause in the hopes of someday repaying all those wrongs she herself has committed.
