Outfitted in simple leather, perhaps Zevan's most distinguishing feature is his infamous two-handed great-sword that he wears on his back. The blade, nearly the size of Zevan himself, has become nearly symbolic to friends and enemies alike.

Introverted and sullen, Zevan's travels by himself have led him to distrust nearly everyone. Towns and cities make Zevan anxious, as the Bosmer has grown accustomed to life on the road. His time as a pirate has led him to have a great love for the sea, with his ultimate goal being to one day own a ship of his own. With no purpose or code to live by, Zevan is primarily motivated by gold.

Once highly regarded Treethanes in Greenshade, the Kaal clan has declined in recent years, though the family still remains one of the political giants in Woodhearth. Zevan was expected to, and was groomed, to carry on that legacy. Yet despite all his wealth and privilege, Zevan wanted more. Idolizing the Bosmer thieves of lore, Zevan practiced this craft himself, often causing several scandals for the Kaal family in the process. The young Bosmer began thieving with street gangs, much to the embarrassment of his parents, and despite their best efforts, this behavior could not be corrected. Upon his 15th birthday, Zevan was quietly asked to forfeit his titles and inheritance to his younger brother and leave Woodhearth, a request Zevan fulfilled without complaint.
Zevan joined a smuggling crew and traveled Tamriel, honing his skills in the process. After over a decade of sailing, smuggling, and pirating, Zevan and his crew were eventually arrested on the coast of High Rock and were imprisoned for several years. Finally, the group was extradited to the Aldmeri Dominion where they were to await execution for his past deeds. However, as one last favor for their wayward son, whom they felt they had failed, the Kaal clan used their politcal connections to quietly arrange for Zevan to be released. With no purpose, gold, or friends, Zevan has set forth to travel Valenwood as a hired blade, hoping to rebuild his wealth and buy a ship to travel the sea once more.
