The Aedric Sect was founded in 2E 572 by an Altmer Paladin named Enrion Thromian alongside a small band of religious warriors on Summerset. The Aedric Sect remained relatively small and unheard of for years after its founding, taking whatever work they could find with little to no real objective or organization. It wasn't until 2E 578, The year of the Soulburst, that the Aedric Sect would begin its rapid growth, eventually expanding into Auridon, and later Valenwood and Elsweyr soon after the Dominion was formed. In the event of the Soulburst, tension quickly rose all over Summerset over fear of the anchors. As the anchors began to drop, there was few who stood ready and prepared for the Daedric hoards that would pour out.
This is where the Sect would gain their renown. In the Event of an anchor, the Sect would quickly rush to the site and cut down every daedra who dared to come forth. Through the experience of the warriors in slaying daedra, and the powerful holy magic they possessed, the Anchors were little match. But the Sect was far too small to make much of a difference.
2 years later, Ayrenn would ascend to the throne of the Altmer and form the First Aldmeri Dominion. With the rise of a new leader came new opportunity. The Sect was employed by the Dominion to serve as one of the elite defenses against the invading Daedra. With the finding of the Dominion and the publicity they soon gained, it was not before long the Sect grew rapidly, hundreds of warriors answering the call of the divines to stop this Daedric menace. With the new found power and size of the Sect, it was time for a formal organization of the Sect. The sect would be split into 3 divisions.
The Templars. Headed by the Arch-Paladin, it is comprised of the warriors of the order, who would be the ones to meet the Daedra head on. They are highly skilled and capable warriors trained to combat Daedra and undead alike, wielding fearsome holy and sun magics to smite their foes.
The Chantry. Headed by the Arch-Curate, this division is made up of the powerful Acolytes who specialize in powerful divine rites and rituals, tasked with using their powerful magic to protect the Templars in battle, close portals and banish powerful beings.
The Ministry. Headed by the Arch-Bishop, The Ministry is the final division and composed of the Sect's healers. The members of this division are some of the best healers in the dominion, having a grasp on restoration far beyond the rest of Tamriel. This Division is few in numbers compared to the rest of the Sect, only select few being allowed to join.
