Lys Eiltin

Lys is on the small side, standing just five feet in height. She has a wiry, athletic build from a life of hunting and few luxuries. Her skin is a warm caramel color and stands in sharp contrast to the long, silvery hair she keeps pulled off her face in a long, practical braid. It’s the hair, so silky and uncommon for a Bosmer, that was most often the focus of suspicion and derision of other elves in her small village. Lys’s eyes are also light-colored, two pools of pale, clear green that observe calmly but relentlessly. Around her eyes are large, dark smudged rings of kohl. Her ears are prominent and each adorned with a simple silver bangle, patinaed with sweat and dirt.

Her leather armor is a simple affair, unremarkable but of quality craft. There’s a bow and quiver at her back and twin daggers kept in their scabbards at her sides. Lys spends months at a time out in the wilds of Valenwood, but when her expeditions take her into town for any period of time, one might see her in boyish breeches and and a secondhand jerkin.

Lys was born in a small settlement in Grahtwood near Karthdar and lived there her whole life until just a couple years ago. The loosely-organized clan sought to isolate itself from the outside influences of the Dominion and “unnatural” urban civilizations, so Lys was brought up keeping the Green Pact and living a sort of primitive hunter-gatherer lifestyle. It was hard but pure and beautiful, and if asked Lys will gladly say that she cherishes her upbringing.

She remembers life back then fondly, but it was far from perfect. Lys has a mother and one older brother, Turin, whom she idolizes. While Turin has the dark hair, pale skin, and dark almond eyes of every other Bosmer of the clan, Lys couldn’t look more different with her tan skin and silver hair. It is rumored that her absent father is actually an Altmer and that Lys is the product of some kind of affair. Because of this, she was routinely excluded and gossiped about by the villagers, mer who carried a strong prejudice against Altmeri authority and outsiders in general.

While being treated as a pariah may have caused any other person to withdraw in self-preservation, Lys’s brother Turin protected her from the rumors and worked hard to provide for her. It is because of his care and unconditional love that Lys is the cheerful, optimistic mer you’d see today. He taught her everything she knows and the pair were inseparable, hunting and exploring together. His nickname for her is “Little Shadow” for the way she followed him everywhere silently. Turin left the clan five years ago to become a ranger, and though Lys was immensely proud of her brother, she privately felt heartbroken and left behind. Restless, Lys set out two years ago to make a name for herself as well… though what that entails, she’s not sure yet.
