Character Name: Miri

Race: Altmer

Age: 17

Sex: Female

Physical Description: Miri is short, for an Altmer girl. She stands tall over all but the tallest of races. Her yellow, Altmer skin is covered in dark runes. Her hair is a blonde, shoulder-length, mess and her large eyes are a shining, silver colour. She has a light, but athletic build, leaving her agile and fast.

She is most commonly seen in her leather armour, which is of Maormer styling, however she will wear more casual clothing if she doesn't plan to go out into the forest that day. When she does go out, she takes with her a well-crafted bow, with a quiver of arrows and two elven daggers.

(Better view of the runes here)

(Differences from in-game appearance: No war paint across the eyes and runes that appear on her stomach and arms also extend across her whole body, while looking the same.)

Flair: She has a thick Maormer (French) accent. Keeps her pet snake, Angui, on her at all times.

Personality: In Miri's life, she has only ever known two people, so she finds it difficult to talk and interact with others and can often be distrusting. However, once she gets to know a person and makes friends, she is quite open, usually happy and always up for a chat. Miri loves to explore and learn new things about the world. Rarely is she ever found in the same place. After leaving her home and family she is desperate to find a place where she can fit in and feel welcome. She tends to look up to more experienced people in hopes of learning more skills.

Background: Miri was born on a ship, during the middle of a terrible thunder storm. The ship was being thrown around in the waves and the winds were threatening to tear it to pieces. Acknowledging the fate of the boat, Miri's father began placing protective charms on his newly-born daughter, ensuring she would be safe from the cold, the ocean and the storm. Just as a lightning bolt struck, dooming the ship to the deep, he prayed to all the gods he knew that she would find land and safety, before throwing her into the ocean. Just as he did this, a bolt of lightning came down and struck Miri directly. Her father exerted all the power he had left to shield her. While he kept her from harm, he could not fully stop the lightning bolt. Instead, it went through her body and became a part of her.

Through what could only be a miracle, Miri washed up on the shores of an island. Unfortunately it was not the island of her Altmer people, for the storm had taken her ship far off course. Instead, she had washed up on the shores of a small island near Pyandonea, inhabited by a lonely, Maormer couple. These two had been exiled from the mainland Pyandonea for refusing to fight the Altmer and assist in the retaking of the Summerset Isles. They were walking along the beach when they spotted the young baby washed. The couple were unable to have their own child and took this arrival as a blessing, so decided to take Miri into their home and raise her as their own.

Miri's new mother was an expert in the art of rituals and runes. She soon noticed Miri's unstable spark that threatened to hurt her and others, so she did what she had to and covered Miri's body from head to toe with runes, giving Miri more control over her energy.

Miri's parents knew from their own experiences of prejudice that if any Maormer were to find Miri on this island they would kill her. Thus, they began teaching her skills so that she could survive on her own, away from Pyandonea. As soon as she was capable Miri was taught how to hunt, survive in the wild, mix potions of healing and poison, repair her equipment and how to live within civilisation. Miri would spend her life hunting her food and helping her parents on an a single island, knowing only two other people in her life.

This continued for years, until one day the island was attacked by Maormer pirates. Before her parents could chase them off the island, Miri was spotted by the men. Miri's parents knew what this meant. The fleeing pirates would alert the mainland to the presence of an Altmer and reap the reward. The next few days were spent preparing Miri to leave on an enchanted boat, which would take her past the Summerset Isles, to mainland Tamriel.

Miri left her whole life behind, save for her pet snake Angui, going on a week long boat trip to a place she had never seen before. She arrived in Velyn Harbour and immediately entered the jungle to begin hunting. However, after millennia of being hunted by the Bosmer, the animals of the Valenwood were far more alert than those she was used to hunting. On top of this, after receiving a gash across her arm while chasing prey, she was unable to make any healing potions with no knowledge of the foreign plant life.

At this point Miri decided to return to Velyn harbour to seek help. She approached many people in search of work, a place to stay, anything that could help her out. Some reacted in anger, some in fear, all refused to help her on accounts of the fact that she was different, that she was alien. Soon the guards were called on her and she was forcefully banished from the town due to the suspicions around her identity. Thus, she left in search of other towns where she might find help, although she encountered much the same reactions as she found in Velyn Harbour. Struggling to hunt the foreign, more primal beasts of the Valenwood, she has become hungry and weak. Miri has quickly caught diseases to which she has little natural resistance to. She continues to push on, however she is at the end of her limit by the time she reaches Vulkwasten.

Approved! 4/12/2016

P.S. I love how you imagine the maormer accent as being French!

Ya, I just needed an accent that would be distinct from any of the Tamrielic ones. Considering all the mer speak in an accent from the UK area, I picked something close to there.
