Age- Kohm assumes he is Twenty Six.
Kohm is a Male widower. Kohm has some contrary traits. He enjoys solitude but dislikes most people. Kohm has a subconscious need to be with others. Kohm’s heart ache is constant and is compensated by jokes and injections of positivity. Be it by action or word Kohm feels better about himself by helping others feel good. However Kohm is poor. He often struggles for money because he spends his earnings, middle class wages they may be, on drink and rare book. He is rarely without gourd of finest whisky or book of high fantasy. It is mostly by drink that the pain is hidden. It is only when sober that he suffers fits of rage or depression. Kohm is strong willed and will not give up even the hardest of tasks. Even life. But sometimes Kohm finds himself thinking that he wouldn’t mind sacrificing his life to save another.
Kohm is a jack of many trades but master of only cups. He isn’t that strong of a Mage. Though he has above average intelligence his memory makes up for it by being incredibly short term. He is forgetful and often forgets the little things like his bookmark or his only mages staff.
Kohm has a weak heart for those he perceives in need. He often leaves a coin or two for the beggars. Unless it would leave him without money for his booze. Kohm never makes a point to brag about his drinking powers, in fact he tried to hide much of it. If asked he would tell others the gourd he often drinks from contains an herbal remedy for a constant stomach ailment thereby avoiding the question to share. Kohm has no formal education.
Background:
Kohm was left on the doorstep of a family of woodworkers. They took him in and raised him as their own. However Kohm never felt like a part of the family. As he grew he learned little of the family trade. At sixteen he bade goodbye and traveled where he could. He learned to survive in the wild and picked up a few spells here and there. During Kohm’s journey to find himself he became addicted to skooma. On his Nineteenth birthday he was taught how to make skooma after falling in debt to the local dealer west of the Baandari Trading Post in Malabal Tor. For two more years he worked to pay off his debt and save some money. It was soon after he was given a position to oversee other “alchemists” Like himself that he met a girl named Emile. The two quickly fell in love. There was no need for convincing.
Kohm saw the lifestyle he lived was not conducive to a successful relationship. He quit skooma and left the organization. It was tough going for the first two weeks but it became easier. Kohm spent his savings on a horse and cart and convinced Emile to travel the continent. They survived together gathering and selling useful materials to survive. It became a very co-dependent relationship. It was the first time in his life he was truly happy.
For seven years the two lived happily. Until Kohm fell off the wagon. Kohm and Emile set up tent south of the Elden Root. There and old friend of Kohm’s happened by and asked to share the fire. The friend showed Kohm some of the finest skooma he had ever seen and offered it to Kohm. Kohm took it. The two used late into the night. In the morning Kohm awoke to find his friend, his girl, his horse and his wagon gone. She had left him a note in tucked into his collar. “Goodbye my love”. The trail of his horse and cart lead south. The footprints of his wife lead to the north. Towards Grahtwood. He followed the trail of his wife for two day before he found her. She was half upon the ground sleeping as if she were dead. Which was an apt description because the other half was nowhere to be seen and she was in fact, dead. He dug a grave for his beloved. Upon the stone placed on the grave he carved “Here lies the vestiges of my love, my life, and myself”.
Lastly forgive my formatting. I couldn't figure out how to format the text the way I wanted. It seems every attempt I made at making sensible paragraph breaks were thwarted by blasphemous hobgoblins. Or something.
