Blue Skooma: Past to Present

OOCly, Blue Skooma is an old RP guild that's been around since the launch of ESO. We've bounced around from place to place within AD, have watched a lot of characters come and go, and have gone through different phases in our guild's RP style and set up. We've had 3 GMs (plus one interim one). We have a lot of history. So! Naturally, we also have a lot of IC history.

Below is an IC retelling of the old Blue Skooma Company, and how the guild has ICly become what it is now. I myself have not been around since the beginning, as I joined the July after launch, so there are bits and pieces missing. But I hope to help both new and old members learn a little more about the guild they're in.

The story begins with two feuding groups: The Sugar Claw Clan and the Broken Bottle Merchants. The Clan was a skooma-producing cartel that hid behind an "honest merchant and exports" front, shipping their famous "blue skooma" out with seemingly normal wares. The Merchants, were a group of honest, law-abiding merchants, simply looking to make coin. The two constantly lived in a feud, with some caught in the middle.

From Khenarthi's Roost to Auridon, soon the two feuding groups found themselves in Woodhearth. Fighting and bloodshed ensued. The Merchants would send people to attack the Clan's Clanmother. The Clan would send mercenaries back to return the favor.

Eventually, the Thalmor caught onto the Clan's skooma business, which soon forced them on the run. The Clan, along with any of the Merchants who'd decided to ally with them, got onto a ship and set off.

They soon landed in Veyln Harbor of Malabal Tor and caravaned to S'ren-ja in Reaper's March. It is here that the group settled down, and after the death of the Clanlord's son, he rebuked the production of skooma, destroyed the skooma-producing apparatus in a fit of rage, and vowed to turn to more honest ways of work.

This new vow to honest ways mended the rift that was between The Merchants and The Clan. Both lived in harmony, dealing in exports and trade, selling to travelers on their way to Rawl'Kha.

Though after many months of this harmony, a strange, cursed ruby was found. The Clanmother began to receive strange dreams and premonition of death and destruction, and The Clan began to distrust the nature of the ruby. Meanwhile the previous Clanmother insisted that there was nothing wrong. Deciding not to leave things to chance, the current Clanmother took The Clan and lead them to settle in Baandari, Malabal Tor.

Those who did not find themselves belonging to The Clan, stayed with the old Clanmother in S'ren-ja. But soon, the premonitions seemed to be coming true. Those residents left behind experienced strange things... perhaps the curse of the ruby. Eventually, after many unfortunate events, including a run-in with an old antagonist, those left were driven from S'ren-ja due to a terrible storm the antagonist had conjured.

They roamed for a week, before finding a small town in Malabal Tor, called Vulkwasten. It is here that these people now call home. Some say the curse of the ruby still stays with the people, as many strange things seem to happen to them. Though, in spite of that, the group has grown since they first arrived. Perhaps people come specifically to experience the strangeness. Perhaps people are just passing through for a drink.

The only thing the residents are sure of, is that when banded together, they can handle anything.
