Name: Eretria Stormbinder
Age: 20
Race: Mixed race: Wood Elf mother and High Elf father
Flair: As with other mixed race union, Eretria physically appears Wood Elf due to her mother. However she is a bit taller than the average Bosmer. Eretria has a golden dragon tattoo of High Elf design adorning her chest, upper arms and back. The other remarkable adornment that she wears is a intricate headband set with a vibrant red stone. She seems to value both the marking and adornment, but has not revealed their origins.
Eretria speaks with a polished Altmer accent characteristic of high society.
Eretria favors armor that does not restrict her movements, as opposed to heavier designs. She has studied basic armor making from a Argonian crafter, and has began practicing her craft.
Rumors:
Does not adhere to the practices of the Green Pact. Is largely ignorant of Bosmer society.
Claims to need money, but owns several outfits.
If she talks about her parents or lineage, she refers to herself as "half Bosmer". This is largely an unconscious habit, and reflection of her upbringing.
Background:
Early History
Eretria Stormbinder has never felt like she fit in. The product of a questionable union between Sarudalf Stormbinder and Legodra Nightvale, Legodra, a Bosmer, died in childbirth, and her father brought her back home to Skywatch. The Stormbinder family felt obligated to raise her, but she never felt fully welcome, and was always keenly aware, through her own awareness or reminders from other High Elf children, that she was different.
Sarudalf was a sorcerer of minor skill who wanted to be greater than he was capable. While he was kind to Eretria, as she got older he became more and more consumed with his studies in a futile attempt to advance himself. When she was 14 he attempted some kind of ritual that was beyond his abilities. What that ritual was has never been made clear to her, but it cost him his life.
Eretria was cared for by her Grandparents, who did so more out of obligation than love. When she showed any traits that were deemed "too Bosmer" she was punished harshly with a heavy strap. Driven by a need to prove herself, she excelled in her studies, and was found to share her father's affinity for magic, although it is not clear what her potential is. She also inherited her mother's skill with a bow, and as she became more and more resentful of her treatment by her grandparents and other High Elves began focusing on her skill with that weapon as her way of rebellion.
When she turned 17 she decided to leave home. She worked to earn her passage east on a merchant ship, and curious about her mother's people, traveled towards Valenwood. She soon found that she did not fit in with her Wood Elf kin any better than her High Elf. She found the cannibalistic practices of the Green Pact abhorrent, and furthermore was considered "too Altmer" and cold and aloof. She traveled aimlessly, looking for a place to belong.
Time in Sren-ja
Her travels eventually brought her to the town of Sren-ja, home to the Sugar Claw Clan. After witnessing the death of the Clan leaders son, Eretria stayed in Sren-ja for a time, feeling like witnessing the tragedy provided a sense of kinship with the others. It did not take long before she felt like an outsider again. She got by hunting game and selling the meat and pelts. After witnessing several attacks on the twon and the Sugar Claw Clan by various factions, she decided that it was safer for her to head home.
Eretria has set out, traveling until her money ran out. She took several odd jobs, finally working on a ship to earn passage back to Skywatch. Unfortunately her ship was caught in a storm and ran aground in Khenarthi's Roost. She was reunited with her friend Trinket, and began adventuring with her. After some time together, they returned to Skywatch just in time to help foil a plot by the Veiled Heritance. Eretria was not surprised to discover that her Grandparents had been aiding this group, and uncovered evidence linking them to the group.
Before they could be arrested, they both took poison, choosing death over scandal. Eretria learned that her Grandparents had included provisions in their will to deny Eretria any access to their money or house. Angered, she broke into the estate, stole as much coin and items of value that she could, and set fire to the house on her way out to help cover her tracks. Without a word to anyone, she fled Skywatch, wandering aimlessly until she learned that she was being sought for questioning. She used a good deal of the money she had to book passage to Abah's Landing, far away from Auridon, and the questions that risked exposing her crime.
It did not take long for Eretria to fall in with the Theives Guild in Abah's Landing, finding for the first time a sense of purpose. She was happy for a time, until a big job went south. Eretria managed to escape, but others were not so lucky, and the Iron Wheel began searching for her. Not wanting to draw unwanted attention to the guild, she left Abah's Landing, hoping that some time away would cause the Iron Wheel to forget about her. And once again, she found herself traveling, but this time much more confident and skilled. She traveled for some time, thieving and exploring.
Some months later she arrived in the town of Vulkwasten riding a wolf, having heard that members of the Blue Skooma company had relocated there. She decided to spend some time there, and secured a job working in the tavern. Surprisingly...she has found enjoyment in the work (for the most part, cleaning fish-milk vomit is not one of those times), to the point that she has considered staying longer than she planned.
And probably not stealing anything from the town.
Probably.
